Tampons at Starbucks - How much information is too much to ask?
69
If you love to watch people squirm with embarrassment and have a high threshold for humiliation yourself, then this is the story for you.
My husband did not know that when shopping at a Super Target, you can pay for items (if you have a small order) at the Starbucks counter. It's what you call, a "One Stop Shop" experience.
It's that "time of the month" and I needed to purchase tampons (Super Sized of course!) before date night at the movies (we saw Couples Retreat). I thought it would be nice to take a cup of Starbucks coffee with us to the movies so we grab the tampons and little did I know that my husband noticed I had choosen the Super Sized Target brand tampons.
My question is, how much information is too much or too personal for a total stranger to ask you? I walked over to Starbucks and noticed a sign that said, "Espresso Maker Not Working Today." Great, I thought. Now all I'm purchasing are the tampons, a little embarrased now! Anyway, the Barista rang up the tampons and asked me about the generic brand of tampons and whether they were okay. I explained that I used to buy only brand name but I've realized that some store brands are the same as the brand names. I went no further other than letting her know I thought they worked fine.
I thought the conversation was complete. How much more information could you give about using tampons to a total stranger. Meanwhile, my husband is standing a little further away from us, trying not to hear about the use of tampons!! YUCK!
Anyway, I paid and went to grab the bag of tampons and the Barista asked one last question, "So do those tampons hold up well?"
What was that supposed to mean? I thought I had already given a pretty good explanation and now I have to answer this? I'm not sure how to reply so I just said, "Yeah."
My question to all is how much is too much? A Starbucks Barista (I feel) is a little too comfortable when they ask me about my menstral flow?
My husband and I could not stop laughing!!! I had to call a few people and some thought is was very comical and others thought it was no big deal. So what is it? Too much or not?

LOL!!! Great story and thanks for sharing. Your poor husband must've felt so out of place! That's OK though, cuz sometimes we need to make men feel just a little uncomfortable. : )
