What Does Tanning Lotion Do And How Does It Work?

When you are considering a tanning lotion, there are a few things that you need to know about. Tanning lotion consists of a chemical called Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA. This chemical interacts with the amino acids in your dead skin cells. The effects of tanning lotion can last anywhere between 5 and 7 days, depending on the quality of the product, how it is applied, and also the individual's characteristics. You have to make sure that the area you are going to apply the lotion is exfoliated. The cream must be applied in a circular motion.

What Types Are There?

There are tinglers, and for some people this lotion produces a much deeper tan. You have to remember though that this lotion is only for advanced tanners, because it can irritate your skin. Tinglers are available in many levels and these include T30, T12, T2, and T45. The higher the level, the more tingle you will experience when you tan. Next are the bronzers. They create deep tan that you will see right away and sometimes you will notice some sparkling. Then there are the Swedish beauty tanning products. Tanning lotions can be kept on overnight, but it might not make you tan more.

Outdoor Tanning Lotions

If you are considering using outdoor tanning lotions you should take your skin tone into consideration. If you are fair skinned you should use a lotion that contains bronzers and also SPF. Rather get a base first and then switch to oils. Don't start with oil if you have fair skin. You are going to burn. Outdoor tanning lotions contain mineral oils, so you have to be careful not to use them on tanning beds, especially if you are using cheap oil. You can apply an indoor lotion and go outside, but do not apply an outdoor lotion and use a tanning bed.

Indoor Tanning Lotions

If you are going to be using indoor tanning lotion it is good to know what you will be getting. There are expensive lotions with very popular names and then there are the cheaper ones. If you do not enjoy spending so much money each time you visit a salon, you should try looking for the indoor lotions online. The prices are much cheaper since beauty salons and spas are always raising their prices. There is the right tanning lotion for you that will give you exactly what you are looking for and what you need.

Tanning Bed Lotions

Many people will have their own opinions when it comes to tanning bed lotions. Some will say that outdoor lotion can be used indoors on the tanning bed and others will say that it cannot. Not all tanning lotions can be used on tanning beds. There were many cases of tanning lotions marring the materials on the beds. If you are going to use tanning bed lotion know exactly what you will be using or even visit the salons in the area and let them recommend you a product that will not spoil the beds.

Accelerators

If you are going to use accelerators it would be safe to use one that contains SPF. Some bronzers and spray gels contain SPF and it is also water resistant, so you won't get burned. It is always great to get a tanning product that contains SPF, so while the oil is working the SPF will protect your skin. Many people would recommend you use a tan-preserving lotion to make sure the skin is moisturized and always hydrated. You will also know that you tan will last longer with the preserving lotion. You will find that these products are relatively cheap and promise results.

Tinglers

If you are going to lie on a tanning bed for the first time, many would recommend you not use tinglers. Tinglers will burn and it is not a product that should be used for the first time if you are tanning on a bed. It is called tinglers because they make the blood rush to the skin's surface and make it appear sunburned although it is not. The one way to tell that you are not actually burned is to tap you arm and see if it stings. A reminder: if you are tanning for the first time do not use this product.

Bronzers

There are many light-skinned people that ask if bronzers will only work for them and not for darker-skinned people. The truth is if you have darker skin, using a bronzer can help even up your skin tone. If you are looking for an even tone, a bronzer can help you achieve that. Applying a bronzer to darker skin will leave you with an even tone as a person with lighter skin would appear when applying the product. The bottom line about bronzers is that it works on all pigmented skin. There should be no reason why a person with darker skin cannot use it.

What Is Sunless Tanning?

Sunless tanning is also known as fake tanning, self tanning and UV-free tanning. In order to self tan you have to apply chemicals to the skin. These chemicals will produce a tan with the same results as a traditional suntan. Sunless tanning only became known in the 1960s when articles of skin cancer and sun overexposure arose.

Are Tanning Lotions Safe?

There are a lot of skeptics saying that tanning lotions are unsafe, and then on the other hand many say that they are safe. Some of the products are marked as safe, and there are many satisfied people that will vouch for many of the products. If you are going to apply the product and then use a level 4 sun bed for 30 minutes, it will end up burning you.

When Is The Best Time To Apply It?

Tanning lotion should be applied around 20 or 30 minutes before going out into the sun. You should always pay attention and read the instructions on the bottle.
