Tarot meaning

There are many different types of tarots and tarot card readers but they are little understood by ordinary people. But finding a tarot meaning is simple as the cards can be viewed in many ways. The tarot pack is a pack of 78 cards and it has four suits just like a regular 52-card pack of playing cards used for poker or bridge. The corresponding four Tarot suits though are different. Instead of clubs, hearts, diamonda and spades the suits are called swords, wands, cups and coins

Tarot has a separate 21-card trump suit and a one card is called a Fool but it may act as the top trump or major card though the suit symbols and the number of court cards differ. The minor cards are the pipped cards but include the 4 court cards too. Tarot seems to some people to be connected with the Occult and devil worshiping. It is believed that the ‘Devil’ card was in the set of Tarot cards many centuries ago but it is not included in sets nowadays. Most parents would not let their children play with or dabble with the cards. Even parents with little knowledge of Tarot would be of a similar mind.

Tarot interpretation Each pack purchaced should come with a book of instructions to explain the tarot meaning but it is a subjective science. This book will help an amateur card reader to understand the meanings of the card combinations. Color of the cards are related to the five elements of Fire, Water, Air, Spirit, and Earth. The strongest card is Judgement which is the 20th major trump and sometimes called Angel.

Swords, rods, cups and coins are used as the suits instead of clubs, diamonds, hearts and spade and there are 56 of these minor cards. These consist of 10 pip cards and 4 court cards in each suit.Note: The 2 of spades is not used but the 2 of swords is used instead. Proper understanding of the cards will help with the interpretation of cards dealt and could make you feel more confident about your decisions in life. Living your life or predicting the future by using tarot cards is not recommended. Tarot meanings can be interpreted in many ways and use of these cards should be for recreation and fun.

Tarot as an Art form Because of the color and style of the cards they are quite collectible. Many decks are beautifully colored and are collected by fans of Tarot and art alike. These art decks of cards may be limited and contain the twenty two trump cards (21 plus fool card) The French ‘Tarot de Marseilles’ pack is the most commonly known and is one of the most important designs.

Brief Tarot Card History Playing cards today are derived from Tarot cards which appeared in Europe early in the 14th century. The belief is that they first appeared in Italy. The original cards had extra cards added called trumps, as in Bridge bidding when ‘one no trump’ can be a valid bid. This ‘bridge’ like game increased in popularity and spread to France and Germany. Tarot cards are popularly believed to serve as a means of predicting one's fortune.
