Whilst researching my other hub on tattoo removal, I came across a range of products that collectively fall into a category called a tattoo removal cream. Now this fascinated me since I originally thought tattoos were a permanent fixture on any body part. But as I delved into the world of tattoo removal and realized there were several effective ways that tattoos could be removed, I would never have thought that this could be done with a simple cream for removal of tattoos. This method to remove a tattoo clearly takes a great deal more time than the other methods. Between three and twelve months seems to be the norm depending on the size of the tattoo and the type and colour of ink used. The cream is applied every day for that period and the expectation is that the tattoo will slowly begin to fade over that time

Tattoo Removal Cream Experiences

There are several tattoo removal options other then using tattoo removal creams and it’s these tattoo removal methods that people have generally heard about and are looking for when they are considering removing a tattoo. Most haven’t heard of tattoo removal cream and so there’s no surprise that when people finally do come across tattoo removal cream, they are just a little skeptical as I was – though having done a little research, I’m not quite as skeptical now. The best way to determine whether something like this works is to see what results, if any, other people who have tried tattoo removal cream are having. When I did a fairly large search on the internet, I found several reviews and surprisingly the majority of these said they were quite happy with the results they were getting.

One chap said that after just a couple of weeks of use, the dark solid lines of his tattoo that he thought would never fade, were indeed beginning to fade. After a couple of months, this fading had continued to a point where the solid lines where no longer solid, but had gaps appearing where the lines had completely faded in spots.

Another lady said that her tattoo had taken longer to begin to fade but again with the consistant use of the tattoo removal cream, after a couple of months the tattoo was fading and had begun to get hazy around the edges.

Whilst these reports about the effectiveness of tattoo removal cream are encouraging, there were also a couple of reviews where the writer said that they had experienced no fading of the tattoo after several months of using the tattoo removal cream. This leads me to the conclusion that it may work differently on different skin types or it simply may be that the inks used in each of these cases was different, leading to different results from the tattoo removal cream.

Methods Other Than Tattoo Cream

As mentioned above, there are several tattoo removal options other than tattoo removal cream. These include tattoo laser removal, dermabrasion tattoo removal, and surgical tattoo removal. Tattoo laser removal is performed by a surgeon in their tattoo removal clinic and is considered the safest and most effective of the surgeon assisted methods although it may require several visits. Dermabrasion tattoo removal involves freezing the outer layers of skin and sanding them off. Finally surgical tattoo removal involves removal of the tattoo with a scalpel. Stitches are then used to seal the wound. Each of these methods must be done by a surgeon and cannot be done at home. Each of these methods can have side effects with scarring being the most common. Others include pain, swelling and infection.

Why Consider Tattoo Cream Removal

After weighing up the choices and looking at the advantages and disadvantages of the above tattoo removal options compared with tatoo removal cream, there may be a reasonable argument for at least trying the tattoo removal cream. Firstly the tattoo removal cream can be used and applied at home at your own convenience as opposed to having to visit a tattoo removal clinic and in the case of laser tattoo removal this can be required many times. The tattoo removal cream doesn’t have the side effects of scarring, infection or swelling though there apparently can be some irritation of the skin. Finally, the question of tattoo removal prices must come into the equation and although everyone would like to find free tattoo removal, finding cheap tattoo removal is difficult enough. The cost of tattoo removal for laser and dermabrasion usually starts around $2000. Laser tattoo removal ranges from $250 to $850 per visit and so mounts up with multiple visits. Surgical tattoo removal cost can range from $200 for a very small tattoo to $4000 for larger ones. Tattoo removal creme can be purchased for as little as $100 for a three month supply up to $300 for an entire 12 month supply.

Conclusions On Tattoo Removal Cream

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to surgical tattoo removal options, are not in a hurry to have your tattoo removed, enjoy the convenience of home tattoo removal and have an aversion to pain, then using tattoo removal cream may be worth trying as an alternative. The main thing to remember here is to do your own research, particularly looking at other people’s experiences – either people you know, friends of friends or reviews on the internet from people that have used tattoo removal cream but are not affiliated with the tattoo removal cream companies.
