ALL ABOUT TEACUP CHIHUAHUAS

The popularity of these pets skyrocketed when Paris Hilton graced red carpet events with Tinker Bell, her teacup Chihuahua. One of the foremost reasons why most pet owners are encouraged to own their very own Tinker Bell is that they are convenient and easy to bring along.

Physiological characteristics. These puppies are really small and compact, something that you would love to bring whenever you are on the road to keep you company. These puppies are also known for their energy, swiftness, and alertness. They may be really small in size, but these puppies are literally bursting with energy and also make a great watchdog.

Behavior. The true advantage of these puppies is their natural teachability. They are essentially, after all, domesticated, making it the ideal pup to be cared for by you and your family. However, you will need a basic understanding about how these pups would behave if you decide to housetrain them by your own. Persistence and patience are two essential keys that a pet owner would need to always hold. These pups are really sensitive. If you are too strict or harsh, your behavior may have a direct implication on these pups. In fact, most pups that had been cared for by strict owners end up being a loner and even get scared of people easily.

Diet. Because of their lithe frame, feeding teacup Chihuahua is one of the most difficult issues that their pet owners have to deal with. Overfeeding these pups may be fatal and may lead to premature death. If you had decided to invest your time and resources in caring for one of these pups, it is recommended that you visit and consult a vet for the pup’s diet.

HEALTH TIPS FOR TEACUP CHIHUAHUA PUPPIES

Get them vaccinated, as soon as possible. Consult with a vet if your pup is already qualified to be vaccinated. Because of physiological reasons, teacup Chihuahuas are prone to catching common colds, infections, and diseases. If possible, ask for the breeder or pet shelter a copy of the vaccination chart so you can be constantly reminded of your pup’s vaccination sched.

Invest in coat. These pups do lack the natural protective layers common to “natural” breed of Chihuahua. To protect them from the cold, you must invest in a good and fitting coat for your dog. If possible, shop for summer evening clothing and winter coat separately; they would need it to keep cozy at all times.

Shop for harness instead of dog collar. These pups are vulnerable at the neck area. It would make them irritable and may get on their temper. Teacup Chihuahuas love being walked in a harness than in a custom-made dog collar that their owners got them in any day.
