Why Choose Teak over other Materials?
Today furniture which you have outdoors can be made from many different materials. But one material that proves extremely popular and the furniture from which it is made can cost considerably more is teak. In this article we look at some of the reasons why it is that teak garden furniture is proving so popular to have today.
Reason 1 - This wood contains a large amount of rubber in its structure and helps to make it naturally resistant to the elements such as wind, water, frost and heat. Plus the natural oils within this particular wood are of a kind that make it resistant to damage by insects. As well as being a durable wood, and the ability to cope with all types of weather, teak does not need very much maintenance.

In order to maintain the furniture you should use a soft scrubbing brush to remove dirt build up and then wipe the surface down with a warm water and mild detergent solution. The other way in which you can quickly and easily clean your teak outdoor garden furniture is with a high pressure washer but ensure that you place it on the gentlest setting possible.
If you don't maintain your teak wood properly and it becomes weathered then mildew may develop on it and you will only be able to return it to its former state with a specialist cleaning product. Such products contain chemicals that not only get rid of the dirt but will kill off any mildew or fungus that has developed on the wood. To use these products you require a good set of protective gloves and make sure that you work in a well ventilated space away from other items and people.
After washing your teak outdoor garden furniture you need to let it have time to fully dry out and this make take several days. Only once it has fully dried out are you then able to apply the teak wood sealer to the surface. You can apply these sealers to your teak outdoor garden furniture using either a foam brush or a one that comes in a spray bottle. Either one will ensure that enough of the sealer is absorbed by the wood and so provide it with a sufficient level of protection. You should apply to coats of the sealer on one day and following appliance of the second layer get a clean cloth to remove any excess.
