Ted Kennedy
60
Ted Kennedy died today, August 25, 2009. I was just flicking through the channels on the tv and the breaking news headline on CNN caught my eye. BREAKING NEWS EDWARD KENNEDY DEAD. The first thing I said was, "OH MY GOD NO!!!" We have just lost another fine human being today and it marks a very sad day in history.
Senator Edward Kennedy was suffering from brain cancer since May 2008. Whenver I saw Ted Kennedy on television recently, I always thought to myself what a tough man he is. I always thought of Ted Kennedy as a fighter and a very nice, respectable man.
I have always had a soft spot for the Kennedy family. I was way too young to actually remember the two assassinations, one on President John F. Kennedy in 1963 and one on Robert Kennedy in 1968. These two men were both brothers to Ted Kennedy.
The Kennedy family has lived through a lot of tragic events and it is so sad to think about what this family has gone through. The death that I felt the most, in this family, was the death of young John F. Kennedy Jr. I will never forget the day I heard that he died in a plane crash. I always thought of John F. Kennedy Jr. as a very handsome and successful young man and I always thought it was such a shame that we have lost him. John F. Kennedy Jr. was only 38 years old when he died. He died in July, 1999.
I just found out something that I never realized before. John F. Kennedy Jr. was exactly 4 days older than I was. Wow! I never knew that before.
The Kennedy family has seen so much tragedy over the years. They have been through the wringer and back. There was cocaine addiction, rape and all kinds of other scandals associated with this family.Today marks another tragedy for this poor family.
Now, I am not American. I am Canadian but because we Canadians follow the polictics of our neighbour to the south , we Canadians have all grown attached to the Kennedy family.

Ted Kennedy was a great senator. Too bad he didn't live to see a good health care reform bill passed.
At least he did live to see Obama elected. While some will only mention what he did wrong, politicians on all sides are saying he was a great Senator and that he will be missed.
The end of an era I guess
Thank you everyone for your comments. sharwrotethis, I definitely emphasize with the difficult experiences the Kennedy family has had to face. Ralph Deeds, that is too bad about him not seeing a health care reform bill passed. He did a lot of important work on that bill. Uninvited Writer, good point and I believe Ted Kennedy was a great Senator. ethel smith, yes, definitely the end of an era.
Do you believe all these dead people from the family, are part of a curse or something?bad luck?
Yes, I do believe that the Kennedy's are cursed.

Thanks for sharing your feelings about Senator Kennedy in this post. I agree with you. Senator Kennedy's life should mean more to the world than just another politician. I'm not even a big political follower myself, but as an American (or even you as a Canadian) I appreciate the profound historical impact Senator Kennedy had during his life and emathize with the difficult experiences the Kennedy family has had to face.
