Teen May Be in Trouble for Sexting Naked Photos

Sexting is defined as sending out naked images the majority of whom are females by using the cellular telephone. Teenagers, mostly young men ask women to bare their breasts or to even pose nude or to film them in sexual acts while being photographed on their cellular phones for distribution. Teenage girls oblige without knowing that they are committing a crime.

The most recent incident on the east coast occurred in FairFax County. A young man asked young women to bare their breasts for sex clips. In this most recent case, the teenager did not take pictures, he asked the young women to send him the sex clips. According to the Washington Post, these sex clips got the attention of school authorities and the FairFax Police Department. These acts of public nudity via cellular phone communication is not privvy to the East Coast. Good Morning America showed that the phenomenon is taking root across America. If someone was to use the Google Earth widget, there would be indications of uses across the probable in the most exclusive neighborhoods..

The teenager must have thought his actions were funny until the FairFax police department got involved. The question is whether teenage irresponsibility and implusiveness with explicit photos of nudity results in a crime that needs to bring more sex education in the schools or prosecution. The Virginian police department said that some of the naked photos could constitute a crime as the ages of the young women were not reported to the newspaper. The young man could be charged with a crime as more photos were found on his cellphone when the police was notified.

The FairFax police department is facing the problem of sexting publicly with community meetings. The police department sent out the following flyer: "Sexting. It is ihere. It is destroying lives. Is Your Teen Sending Racy Photos Using Their Cell Phones"? Sexting though reported months ago on Good Morning America seemed to have reached the east coat within the last two months or so. Sexting of these naked photos are a disturbing trend and Virginia has linked with Maryland to see if the problem should be handled with more sex education or with prosecution.

Most teenagers when told that what they are doing is criminal, seem surprised that it is a crime. Technological advances like the cell phone does not have statutes written in law books as yet but the teens think that what they are doing is not a crime.

Nationwide, sexting have been in the news for some time now and states are having to cope with this disturbing trend legally, with legislature and in the court rooms. The seriousness of sexting is indicated when an eighteen year old was listed as a sex offender in the state of Florida. The state of Vermont and Ohio have had to draft similar bills in their state governments.

As for the case of the Fairfax teenager who was caught sexting naked images, it is unclear if the procecutors in this case will lead to counseling, education or juvenile court. Because of the newness of the trend, the way to handle these cases is still evolving. Most of the state government wants to let the teens know that sexting is a crime and that the activity is dangerous. Good Morning America reported that one of these cases were fatal for a teenager who boyfriend distributed the pictures after a breakup. The boyfriend sent the nude pictures to hundreds and hundred of boys and the girl was tormented.

The profile of a teenager whose involved in sexting may surprise most people. The Washinton Post reports that most of these teens are good in school and makes good grades. The parents are usually involved in their schools and most of the teens do not have a criminal record. Most of these teens however are naive to think that the sexting of nude photos on cellular phones will not appear over the internet viewed by millions of strangers.

One teenager is wondering how did he get the idea when he was prosecuted for mailing explicit photos of his girlfriend to everyone on her contact list on her cell phone. He said that he sent the photos in fit of "bad judgement" and now has to regret his actions in weekly group counseling meetings with sex offenders. States are still graffling with to educate or procecute these young offenders.

Teenage boys in the juvenile justice system is a nightmare concerning sex offences. They are told in counseling that just touching a girls breast is just as bad as molesting a 3 year old child. They system is out to make money and there are hoards of lawyers and counselors trying to get in on it. Keep our kids out of the system.....the system creates criminals.

Education an supervision is the answer.

Thanks.....good hub!

Tom Cornett, you really think that lawyers are trying to make money off of juveniles.  I think that parents should get more involved in this disturbing trend.

Thank you for your comment.

No....they make money from the parents. You are absolutely right about parents getting more involved. In my Hub..."Consensual sex can be called rape" explains why.... the last thing to do is get the legal system involved. Check you own state laws...if you have a teenage son...the system could destroy his life.

I am all for education and giving kids a good foundation so that when a choice is to be made, they make the right one. Tom, you talk as though you have been affected by the system or know someone who has and who never got it right again. Most state laws are probably similar when speaking of this type of offense.

I know that 9 young boys had their dreams and hopes for the future destroyed by the system. They are labeled sexual predators and sex offenders. The youngest of these had went through with a dare to touch a girls breast. The sex offense will be on record forever and it can be accessed by police and military. Two of these boys were originally charged with rape....one 13 and one 14 for having consensual sex with a 12 year old girl. One of the boys was in Olympic training....he had been in training for 8 years. His dream was destroyed. This was in just one small town in a 4 month span. They had many more coming in.

Tom Cornett, thank you for the moving story of how sexual misconduct can follow you from any age. I hope that parents read the story you wrote and warn their kids about the consequences and how their future can be ruined forever from bad behavior. Thank you for your comment.
