Puberty is the period in your life where you learn new things and wants to try every nick and cranny you can take you hands on. This is also the time when you feel you are old enough to enter the world of grownups. This is not bad; every one in your age feels the same way. However, there is this small issue that 80% of teenagers cannot escape, it is called teenage acne. Please do not worry if you have teenage acne, as I have mentioned most teenagers experience this one way or another and there is everytype of acne treatment.
The only way to combat its ill effect is to learn how to take care of your skin. This will avoid worsening your condition.
How to avoid teenage acne?
Because you are entering puberty and that hormonal changes happen during this time, you may not avoid your skin getting oilier. To avoid teenage acne, you will need to wash your face twice a day to clear your face of dirt. Dirt and oil mixing together causes clogging of the pores. If this happens, you either develop black heads or white heads.
As mentioned above, the only way to avoid acne is to wash your skin with mild soap or facial wash.
Avoid too much scrubbing, please note that you cannot scrub away acne. Scrubbing will irritate the acne and make it worse.
What to do when you have acne?
• Wash your face with mild facial wash. Do not prick or touch the acne. Irritating it will worsen your condition. • Use benzoyl peroxide to dry the acne. Benzoyl peroxide likewise kills the bacteria that are causing the acne. It also helps clear the blockage. • If after a couple of weeks your acne has not disappeared, consult your doctor for acne treatment.
Consulting your doctor will help you understand what is causing your acne. He will likewise give you the advice on the proper way to clear your acne if the above do not help clear it out.
Teenage acne myths
As a teenager, you hear so many myths about acne. Knowing the truth behind them will give you better understanding of your condition and may give you some reason to believe it will go away sooner or later.
• Oily foods cause acne. No, it does not. Even if you eat oily foods you will be clear of acne if you diligently take care of your skin. • Late night partying causes acne. If you use cosmetics and you sleep with it, even if you do not sleep so late, you will develop acne. Keeping your face clean and free of dirt will ensure you will not develop acne. • Stress causes acne. Stress causes your immune system to weaken. But it will not develop acne.
As a teenager, you need to learn to take care of yourself. This will help avoid teenage acne.
