Keep Your Teeth Clean for Better Health

Keeping your teeth clean and healthy is an important part of your overall health.  Your teeth are an important systemic part of your body and if you take poor care of them, you will get cavities, bad breath, periodontist, gum disease, plaque and when they fall out, you won't look that great either.

Floss Once Per Day, and Maybe Twice

You should floss your teeth once per day.  This will help keep your gums healthy, remove plaque and tarter as well as remove bits of food lodged in your teeth.  If you need to know how to floss your teeth, follow these simple steps.

  1. Take about 24 inches of dental floss.
  2. Wrap it around your fingers until you have a few inches that you can pull tight.
  3. Start in the back bottom portion of your mouth and work your way around to the other side and then repeat for the uppers.
  4. Between each tooth and on each side form a "C" with the floss and take it below the gum line, but don't completely gouge yourself.

If you haven't flossed in a while, your gums may bleed.  If you keep flossing regularly, the initial swelling and sore gums and bleeding will stop.

Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day

You should brush your teeth twice a day and optionally a third time as well.  It's best to brush your teeth with an electric tooth brush. My dentists recommends the FlexCare Sonic Toothbrush.  They say it breaks up tarter, gets your teeth cleaner, and is healthier for your gums than a traditional tooth brush for teeth cleaning.

Teeth Cleaning Foods

I've found that I get a better report from my dentist now that I'm eating more foods that help clean teeth.  The characteristics of teeth cleaning foods include fruits and vegetables that are hard when you bite into them.

Here is a short list of items to eat to help clean your teeth.  If you add them to your diet they will help the health of your teeth.

  • Applies
  • Carrots (uncooked)
  • Celery

it is tough to go without a sonic toothbrush after using it for a while. Otherwise it makes you feel like your teeth are dirty.

Yeah, the sonic toothbrush is great. My dentist has been more pleased with me since I started using one, been flossing once a day and eating one apple a day.

I'm fanatical about flossing and brushing!I do have an electric Oral B, but now am thinking about the Sonic. Sanitizing toothbrushes seems really important too. Also everyone needs a good tongue scraper! Kartika

Oral B makes a really cool tongue freshener. Brushing and flossing is important for keeping your teeth clean, but a tongue scraper helps a lot with bad breath!
