Teeth Whitening Problems - Avoid Destroying Your Teeth!
64Have you ever heard of teeth whitening treatments? Many people get darker, yellower and stained teeth as they grow older. Usually, teeth already begin to get darker in our late teens. By the time we reach the age of 30, the darkening effect is clearly visible. At even higher ages, our teeth become more yellow and the stains become more prominent. The darkening of teeth is a natural process, because as we age the mineral structures inside our tooth enamel begin to change. This is what causes the discoloration. But if you also consume lots of cofee, wine, tea, soda drinks and cigarettes, then you are accelerating this darkening process. Cigarettes are especially good at giving your teeth that yellow glow that most people feel is so unsightly.
Problems With Teeth Whitening
It's no wonder that there is now such a big market for teeth whitening. There is lots of money to be made in the business of giving people their pearly white smiles back. There are so many manufactures and so many products and services commercially available to the public these days. How are you ever going to figure out which product or service works best for you? Not all products are of equal quality. Not all products work. Some products might even damage your teeth. If you are not careful, you could suffer from a couple of serious teeth whitening problems. This often translates to permanently more sensitive and painful teeth. You want to avoid this. Trust me on that one.
You won't have to worry about sustaining any damage from harmless products such as the tooth whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes. Those might give your teeth a good scrubbing, polishing and a refreshed breath, but they're not going to give you any significant improvement in the shade of your teeth. This is because the whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes never have any hydrogen peroxide in them. And this is exactly what you need in order to accomplish noticeable results. In order to get real results, your teeth will have to become many shades whiter. Often more than 10. Toothpastes and mouthwashes hardly accomplish just 1 shade, let alone 10.
The whitening kits for home use come with a hydrogen peroxide gel. This is the same gel that your dentist would use on you if you would opt to let him whiten your teeth for you. Hydrogen peroxide can seriously damage your tooth enamel if you are not careful. For this reason, you must always check to see if your whitening kit has a seal of approval from the American Dental Association. This guarantees you that the products is relatively safe. But this doesn't mean you can't damage your teeth with it. If you are going to leave the hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel on for too long, you are still going to sustain damage to your enamel. This is going to make your teeth more painful forever. So follow the whitening kit's instructions to the letter, or suffer the consequences.
