America's Got Talent

America's Got Talent is a popular television show. They are in their fourth season and, as of this writing, and are just moving into their Finals Round. The groups who have won this competition have an incredible amount of talent and, though it is debatable, certainly deserve their title of champion. All of the Grand Prize winners shown below were chosen by voters of the American Public, and not by television-show judges.

Below you will see the top-five winners of this season. Before the video of their final performance, I will write a brief description of the events leading up to their status as 'finalist'.

Season 3: 2008

ROUND 1 - Auditions

This round is exactly the same as before with the following exceptions: All acts were divided into several more categories than the two that were used in the previous season.

ROUND 2 - Vegas Callbacks

Nineteen groups were eliminated without the chance to perform. The remaining 94 acts performed until a short list of 60 was gathered. From that short list, forty acts were passed through to the Quarter-Finals

ROUND 3 - Quarter-Finals

During the Quarterfinal round, the acts were split up into four groups of ten which each perform on a separate night. All voting power was handed to the American people which were able to vote five acts out of each set of ten through to the final round. Each judge got a buzzer and could buzz each contestant with an × if they so desired. If all three judges buzzed the contestant, the performance was terminated. This rule remains in effect for the rest of the competition. From each set of ten groups, five were eliminated. The top four acts were immediately moved to the semifinals, and the bottom four acts were immediately eliminated from the competition. The Judges were given to choose one of the remaining acts (fifth or sixth place) to continue in the competition.

ROUND 4 - Semi-Finals

In this round each act performs and America votes for the best act. From each set of ten groups, five were eliminated. The top four acts were immediately moved to the semifinals, and the bottom four acts were immediately eliminated from the competition. The Judges were given to choose one of the remaining acts (fifth or sixth place) to continue in the competition.

ROUND 5 - Top Ten

In this round each act performs and America votes for the best act. The two acts which received the lowest votes were eliminated. Five acts were eliminated in this round. The top four acts were immediately moved to the Final Five, and the bottom four acts were immediately eliminated from the competition. The Judges were given to choose one of the remaining acts (fifth or sixth place) to continue in the competition.

ROUND 6 - Final Five

In this round, each act was given to perform. America was able to choose the winner.

Final Performance

After all of the votes were tallied, each act performed a song with a celebrity to which they were assigned. The winner was then announced.
