Ten Illustrated Quotes: Humor
81Quotations Lovers
There are those geeky types who love to collect interesting quotations. I’m one of them. Collecting humorous quotes is always a laugh out loud moment well spent. Well, I’m always advising people to live out loud… Humor seems to be as difficult to illustrate well as philosophy. I’m always up for a challenge to prod, poke and stretch how I think about the world.
Second in a series of illustrated quotes this is proving more time consuming research than you would think. Hours of pouring over flickr photos, painstakingly flipping through the database, selecting several possibilities, then narrowing it down to choose only one. Decisions about art are never easy as there are so many that are worthy of praise.
Promoting my fellow photographers - as much as my fellow writers - is, well, a lot of fun. That’s how my seven blogs came to be. I saw interesting articles or photos and wanted to promote them for more reads and views. These blogs keep evolving. It looks like they are evolving into my own fantasy world of article directories!
Now that I’ve collected about 3,000 favorites on flickr there is plenty of material to keep me writing and you reading. Hope you enjoy the grins and the interesting thoughts!
From Zig Ziglar
People often say that motivation doesn’t last.
Well, neither does bathing - that’s why we recommend it daily.
How many kids did you say?
From John Wilmot
Before I got married I had six theories about bringing up children; now I have six children and no theories.
Hmmm... social comment about cloning fruit?
From Oscar Levant
What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left.
Nothing like ticking off your enemies, yay!
From Oscar Wilde
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
(From Denny: I knew there was a really good reason to be a forgiving person! Finally, validation! )

Just the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses.

Some nice humour there, Denny. Made me smile on a blustery Sunday morning, when I didn't feel like it.
Anthony
Congratulations Denny on your 10k hits in only 4 months! thats really a feat. This is a great hub, loved it.
Congratulations, Denny. I needed 7 months for that. But last few weeks everything goes much quicker.
I adore your sense of humour! The best one for me is "I quit therapy because my analyst was trying to help me behind my back."
Thumbs up! Thanks for making me laugh!
Hi Denny, Congrats on the DIEZ MIL views! Had fun with this hub, the quotes are very cute! Loved this one: "What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left." Laugh!
Hi, Madison, thanks for stopping by for a visit! Everyone is smart in my book - all it takes is a little extra time to start using it. Cool compliment you received! You must have lived on that for days! Isn't it funny how some people think they are insulting you when you realize it was just God talking thru them to give you a message about how much you have grown?!
Besides, as a kid, the way I got away from the home abuse was to visit the local public library. I spent hours and hours down there and always made sure I came home with an armful of books.
They were the voices of encouragement and wonder. Those books also acted as a physical shield because whenever the abusers saw me reading they would suddenly tiptoe off and leave me alone. Maybe it was my intense focus that made them nervous. Maybe it was because it was something they could relate to as the IQ wars were ongoing in my house. Obviously, I read - a lot! Well, that's one way to get your personal development the hard way, I guess! :)
Thanks for your personal story, much appreciated!
Hi, Anthony, I hear you on the cold weather as an emotional downer! It must be difficult for people to live in places like Alaska where the night is 6 months long. Though I hear people buy these light boxes to help stave off depression. I know I'd buy one if I lived in a place where there was too much darkness or cold.
I wrote this on a sudden warm early Spring day here in Louisiana. The warmth and sunshine does so lift our mood. I figured my friends in colder areas of the world could use a good belly laugh, smirk, chuckle or just plain slow grin.
Can you tell I used to be the high school comedian? When I moved back to the States from Taiwan it was the last 4 months of school. After a couple of weeks, the kids who were on those nominating commitees told me it was a shame I was 2 weeks late as they would have put me up for school comedian. Thank God I arrived too late for that dubious honor! Can you see that tag line following you thru life unless you are a successful comedian?
Thanks for the visit, Anthony, and may good humor be with you for all your days!
Hi, buddy, thanks for the congrats and stopping by too! It sure surprised me to do this well for niche writing: generalized spirituality, poetry and off-beat food! Will wonders never cease?
I do like it when people talk back to me. Yes, 99% of the internet folks are lurkers and only 1 % engage - but when people engage it tells me what their interests and needs are so I can write about it for them.
What is the purpose of writing? It sure isn't just to hear the sound of your own voice! It's to write to another person something they find useful on some level.
To me, if I've written something and reached just one person then it was a very good day.
But wow! 10,000 knocked me over! To reach so many in such little time. Granted folks who write about IT and the like of what's very popular drive far higher numbers. But I was quite pleased with this turn-out at this early stage. People are always so full of good surprises!
Hi, Tatjana, thanks for stopping by for a visit! Glad these little sillies gave you a grin too!
Thanks too for all your great hubs I blog on over to my The Healing Waters blog for others to benefit and to promote you for more reads. Your hubs are so wonderfully thorough on a subject!
Hi, Elena., thanks for stopping by to laugh with me! Since I came from a background of abusive annoying constantly irritated geniuses, you can only imagine how much I love genius jokes! If only the educators would get serious about teaching emotional intelligence to match the intellectual, then life and society would improve all around! Thanks for the visit all the way from Spain. You have a great sense of humor too - definitely enjoy my funny friends!
The others have said it. Thanks for the laughs. Hub Pages is quite entertaining.
wow these are really great.thanx for sharing....
Hi, einron, nothing like a little entertainment to keep the stressing away! Besides, humor is supposed to be good for our hearts and health - works for me! Thanks for stopping by too...
Hi, britney, thanks for your visit! We are about 6 hours apart so I just woke up here in the USA. Glad you enjoyed too, stop by any time!
My current avatar: My husband just saw it and made conversation for the silly cat face that goes like this: I'm innocent! I can prove it! My paw prints aren't anywhere on it! I've even got an attorney to prove it! Really!
(Guess I'm stuck with this silly avatar for awhile when all I did was put it up on a whim of grin...)
Humor is good. The world could use much more humor, and much less conflicts. Back in the day when I read the newspaper before work. I would glance through the headlines, look at the weather, then always end with the comics. I liked a good laugh before going to work. Besides, I do believe that humor clears the mind. Cheers...
Hey, Cliff, "great minds think alike!" :) Ditto on the proper way to read the daily newspaper!
I loved the one where Oscar Wilde paraphrased Jesus - is that what Jesus really meant?
Hi, Dolores, thanks for visiting! Off hand I don't remember the quote. Can you drop it off here to jog my memory?
I do know that Wilde became very spiritual at the end of his life and converted to Catholicism - quite the turn around for a social rebel. For a wonderful mind like his, I'm sure he could rightly divide the scripture to grasp the deeper meaning or I doubt he would have become so devout.
Hi, Denny! That's a nice hub alright. Congrats on your page views! All quotes are great in a way. My fave is the therapist. Glad he quit as he doesn't seem to believe in therapy. :)
7 blogs, you must be a really attentive person. :)
Hi, Bela Mongyi, thanks for visiting! Hmmm... attentive - or maybe 1st cousin to ADD... :)

Denny,
Congrats and I loved this hub. Good stuff. I love quotes! Does that mean I'm a geek?
Here's a favorite of mine: First you have to understand that I've never looked or acted "scholarly." I was more the cheerleader type in high school than the brainy type, in college I was a very good student but no genius.
I love to read so one day at the office when I was talking about some of the best books I'd read lately, the young guy next to me said, "Geez, you're so the bookworm." It may be one of the best complements I've ever gotten. So, maybe I've grown into geekdom!
