More Ways to Beat Boredom According to Me
75More ideas
While going to bed I thought of some more ideas for beating boredom. I also got an idea thanks to rednckwmn on here in one of her comments she left on the other list I had made. So here are 12 more ideas from little ol' me to beat boredom in the head and have a fun day, week, month, year, and LIFE!
14. Play Computer Games
I had mentioned video games in the other one but totally ignored the computer and felt bad. So yes play video games like Fate or Fable, or even those ones you get for free online and standard on any and all computers. Solitaire, Hearts, Spider Solitaire, Freecell...and those other ones you can play without having to insert a disk or to download from online. Have fun playing computer games. Just don't get mad at you computer too much because we all know that computers are unpredictable.
13. Start a Collection
Have you ever wanted to start collecting something that interests you? Well now you can. Go out and start collecting whatever it is you like. Bugs, stamps, coins, pins, etc. For me, I collect crystals, polished stones, books on haunted locations, candles (and not just any candles at that, the ones that are in shapes), and mythical creature figurines, my favorite being that of fairies.
A few things I collect
12. Volunteer!
Another great way to get your arse out of your house is to volunteer your free time to a good cause. Whether it is to feed the homeless, take care of animals in a shleter, or help build a house for a family to live in once it's finished. Not only is it a great thing to od but you also feel proud of yourself and you feel happy that you did such a great thing. There are tons of graet programs out there that need volunteers. as i have stated in another hub I volunteer for CatsInNeed and love every time I get to go and take care of the kittens and cats ready to ba adopted into loving homes. Now it's your turn!
11. Paint me a Picture
Even if you aren't very good at it, like myself, you can doodle, draw, sketch, and paint. It is fun, relaxing and you may get inspired by the things around you. And like I said you don't have to be good at it, just havefun with it. Draw yourself a cartoon. Paint those mountains that you see off in the distance that has snow resting on top. Sketch your cat or your dog as they sleep on the floor, couch, or wherever else they like to sleep. Doodle little hearts or stars or flowers on a piece of paper or even go out and buy a sketch book and go wild filling the pages up with your art work.
10. Sculpturing
Work with your hands and with clay. take a pottery class where you learn to play with clay and shape it, mold it into pots that you can decorate your home with and proudly state to guests that YOU created the pottery or vases with YOUR own two hands. Then take it up a notch and try making a sculpture of an animal, a person, a flower, whatever it is that inspires you.
9. Bead Heaven
Go to the beading store and buy interesting and different beads. Once you get home, create and make earrings, bracelets, necklaces, whatever it is that you want to make. Get a head start and start making Christmas gifts. Jewelry making is fun, easy, and relaxing. Of course you'll need to get the tools to make the jewelry but there are plenty of online stores as well as I'm sure stores in your neighborhood.
8. Scrapbooking
I myself am not into this but I have heard that this is a lot of fun as well as relaxing. I have many pictures so maybe I should make myself a scrapbook. There are thousands and thousands of cool stickers, paper, decorations, and binders to put everything in so why not go crazy and have FUN? Again online stores and those in your areas are willing to help. They even have classes and clubs for scrapbooking so you can meet new people who also love to do scrapbooking. Or you can even start your own club and meet people that way.
7. Cooking/Baking
Do you ever dream of being a chef? Or even a bakery chef? Well why not pretend that you are in your kitchen. Yes you have to clean up the mess once you are done but think of all of the possibilities you have when you are cooking or backing. All of the delicious treats you can bake like lemon bars, pies, cakes, brownies...and the list goes on. And think of the great dishes you can prepare for your family, friends, and partner/spouse. At the next family gathering or holiday, your dishes could be the talk to the evening. Just get cooking or baking and add something that isn't only tasty but speaks volumes of you. Add a dash of cinnamon in your chocolate and lemon frosting cake. Or add that spice no one else ever thinks to add to the shrimp or roast beef. And the best part is getting to eat afterwards whatever it is you created.
(props to rednckwmn for the idea!)
6. Make me something special out of WOOD
Woodworking can be very relaxing though you do have to remember to keep those little fingers of yours away from the blade or any other tool that can harm you. Scroll-sawing is a fun and creative way in making great gifts as well as help you practice for more bigger projects like making a dresser or bed frame. Or there is also always the fun burning wood, something I might look into since my husband likes to scroll-saw. We can create gifts together side by side. And so can you! Online they have great websites for any and all wood working fun and I am sure that you can find a store that sells the wood and tools you need close to you. You can even get the kids into it when they are of course much older like 13-14 age. Don't forget to read magazines; there are tons of magazines out there that can give you great tips and fun projects.
5. House Sitting/Pet Sitting
Yes it may sound boring but it can be fun. You can take care of their house, watch movies, and of course take care of their pets. You can feed the pets, walk them, and give them lovin' while their human parents are gone. NO PARTIES! That is a big no-no but if you ask and it's okay with the people you are house sitting for, maybe just a few friends over to watch a movie or go swimming if they have a pool.
4.Go Ghost Hunting
There are plenty of books out on this topic so why no tyr your own hand at hunting for proof of ghosts? A digital camera for taking pictures of areas believed to be haunted. A tape recorder for EMFs to catch those voices that you may not hear with your own human ear. A friend to go with is always a plus. But if you do not catch anything, don't be discouraged. Continue to hunt for activity and ghosts in your area. It's fun and you never know...you can catch several pictures and/or several EMFs.
3. Explore caves
If there are caves close by or if you ave the time and money to travel somewhere to explore caves, then go for it. They are interesting, fun, cool, and full of history all in it's own. You may even catch a sight of a few bats if you are lucky. You can also see the interesting stalagmitesand stalactites. There are 'low bridges' as they call them when there is a low rock in the path but that is what keeps the caves fun and mysterious. If you are ready for a fun mystery, then go explore caves. Don't be afraid of the bats; they will not hurt you.
2. Go to a Museum
There are many museums out there in the world, whether they be art or history, museums are always a great way to beat boredom and also a fun way of learning something new. The beauty of art will inspire you to write or to paint or anything else. The history museums will introduceyou to interesting facts about our past. And there are great museums for children with books and activities sometimes just for children to keep them entertained.
Have fun and go with a group of friends. They always know how to make things more fun.
1. Write Letters
Forget email for a day and grab your paper, pen, envelopes, and stamps. Writing letters are always more meaningful, personal, and fun, and I bet your family and friends would enjoy receiving in the mail and possibly send back hand written letters.
If you don't want to write to yur family and friends, then find a pen pal in another state or another country. There are plenty of people out there who enjoy writing letters as well as recieving and reading a letter from you.
May be more to come?
If I can think of any other fun projects or things to do, I will of course add more hubs about them. I am all for beating boredom since I am bored a lot of the time. Have fun!

I have always associated boredom with not wanting to do anything or not having anything that interests you at the time. There are always things to do. That said, I don't remember the last time I was board.
You missed a really really big one though. Find a friend with small children and offer to babysit for a few hours. Guaranteed to not be bored!! (this coming from a father of 3 under 3.5 :) )
I'm bored. Time to hit Hollywood Cemetary and see who's around haunting the joint. BTW this isn't in California.
