Roger Federer - Tennis Champion
60Roger Federer - Tennis Champion
Roger Federer can rightly be hailed as a tennis champion, even a tennis superstar. Prior to the recent onslaught by another tennis great Rafael Nadal, Roger Fedrer reigned supreme. With Nadal's defeat in the recent French Open and his withdrawal from Wimbledon, Federer emerged once again as an undisputed champion, shaking off his earlier uncertainties and somewhat lacklustre performances in the previous year.
It was a little disappointing that we were not able to see Federer actually defeating Nadal to regain his supremacy. So there are some lingering doubts. With Nadal back in the picture, having recovered from his knee injury, we will soon see whether Federer will hold firm or succumb. As of now, so far as the official records go, Federer is the top dog.

Montreal Masters
Federer and Nadal are both doing well in the Montreal Masters, both going into the quarter-finals. Many people are looking forward to a finals match between them. This will be Federer's chance, many feel, to brush aside all doubts and vindicate himself as the undisputed tennis champion.
Update:
Alas, both have disappointingly got defeated in the quarter finals of the Montreal Masters. We shall have to await another occasion when destiny will arrange a confrontation between the two players, both tennis champions.
US Open 2009
Roger Federer has reached the finals, with consistent display of his prowess. He defeat of Novak Djokovic in the semi9-final was convincing, and magical.
On the second-to-last point of the match Djokovic lobbed a long return, making Federer run all the way back and past the base line. Federer turned around and swung between his legs. The ball bounced just over the net in clear view of the defenceless Djokovic.
It was hoped that Nadal would make it to the finals and face Federer. But again this would not happen. Nadal was doing pretty well all the way until the semi-finals. He then got beaten roundly in three straight sets by a surprisingly great performance by Juan Martin del Potro.
