Research by Readers Digest in 2006 concluded that more than 60% of Brits believe in psychic abilities such as telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition. Furthermore, 43% of those surveyed stated that they had personally experienced telepathy by reading the minds of others or having their own minds read.

If you are one of the 43% and believe that you have psychic powers, there are a selection of tests you can complete online and offline to test your ability.

One of the most popular psychic skills to test is ESP, which stands for Extra Sensory Perception. ESP can take several forms, including:

• Intuitive impression – a simple impression or hunch; suddenly “just knowing” something.
• Hallucinations – when the “message” is seen as a sensory hallucination. An example is at the time of an unexpected death of a loved one, a person might report seeing an apparition of the person, or hearing their voice, from miles away.
• Dreams – when a clear mental image is seen in a dream which is later confirmed to be true; sometimes, it is a more fanciful dream like a dramatisation of an event

You can test your ESP abilities online.  In this test, you are asked to choose from four possible symbols to say which has been pre-selected for you by the computer. You have 12 runs to complete, for which an average result would be 3 correct (25%).  As well as giving your overall score at the end (and showing which you got right and wrong), the website also gives an overall average score for everyone who takes part.

The next psychic test must be completed offline. This is a test of psychokinesis – the ability to control objects with your mind. You will need a two dice (regular six-sided) and a rolling cup. You will also need a surface to roll the dice onto, which should be padded so that the dice will bounce and roll freely.

The test involves rolling a particular number – you can choose which number from 1 to 6 and it is recommended to vary the number you are throwing occasionally between sets to eliminate the possibility of inconsistencies in the die’s surface that may favour a particular number.

To achieve a “hit”, you should try to think of only your chosen number when you roll the die. Do the test in sets of 12 (i.e. 12 rolls of both dice at a time) and at least 3 sets, recording the result as you roll (or have someone record it for you, to you don’t have to break your concentration).

Success rates are as follows (a “hit” is a successful throw of your chosen number on either die):
For 3 runs of 12 throws:
Average number of ‘hits’: 12
Fair result: 18
Good result: 20
Excellent result: 22

For 6 runs of 12 throws:
Average number of ‘hits’: 24
Fair result: 33
Good result: 35
Excellent result: 37

For 12 runs of 12 throws:
Average hits: 48
Fair result: 61
Good result: 64
Excellent result: 67

For 24 runs of 12 throws:
Average hits: 96
Fair result: 114
Good result: 118
Excellent result: 123
