Test your culture for obesity trends

To determine how much of your thought process regarding foods are culturally derived,.

 Take this test.

Answer quickly with the first thought in your mind. It is important to answer instantly. Take this test on an empty stomach one hour before the last meal of the day.

TEST NUMBER ONE

Write the first thing that comes to your mind when viewing these words::

Chinese:

Japanese:

French:

Italian:

Greek:

Mexican:

If you answered in the form of a “restaurant”, or “food item”,

Society plays a role in your weight issues.

In addition, you eat out too much. Stay home and cook more.

If your answers included a

Famous piece of art from that land, a person of that ethnic background, or a travel brochure, society does not rule your eating habits.

TEST NUMBER TWO

Quickly name the dishes featured on the table of your family during:

Thanksgiving:

A party:

A Family Reunion:

Birthday:

Did you name: apple pie, pecan pie, banana pudding, carrot cake, chocolate soufflé, ice cream, mashed potatoes, candied yams, cheesecake, or chips?

If so, then look again toward society.

If you wrote, baked fish, steamed vegetables, and fresh fruits, then you are reading this book for a friend. You definitely do not have a weight problem.

Next question: Quickly write down what comes to mind when I say these words:

Thanksgiving

Your birthday

Birthday of others

Christmas,

Valentines Day

 Halloween

St Patrick’s Day

Memorial Day

 Labor Day

If even once you said the words: cake, turkey and dressing, dinner, candy, more candy, corned beef, beer, or grilling outside, you must check in your mental journal that part of the weight problem is culturally derived.

Society is partly to blame for the epidemic of obesity. It is difficult to stay on a healthy eating plan, because there is always a holiday interfering! I know this is accurate, because through the years, clients continually came in declaring they cheated on the program because it was someone’s birthday, or another holiday. I can tell you every reason you will have for cheating on your program (from a social basis) before you even begin. Here is a truth you must never forget: No one actually cares if you eat his or her birthday cake or not. It is all about “them”. They are not paying close enough attention to have their feelings hurt by your abstinence. However, if you announce to everyone that you are not eating it because you are on a diet, then naturally everyone will encourage you to eat..
