What are yeast infections?

Worldwide, millions of people suffer from all sorts of yeast infections. It doesn't matter whether you're a man or woman, young or old, everybody can develop yeast infections during their life.

So why do so many people have yeast infections? Basically, yeast is a fungus (the most common being Candida albicans) which is present on your skin and in moist areas of your body. If your body is in unbalance, the yeast already present in your body will break out and cause yeast infections.

Signs you might have yeast infection

Here are a few common signs you might have yeast infection:

  • yeast infections generally occur in warm, moist areas like the underarms, mouth, genitalia, skinfolds, nailbeds, diaper area
  • burning or itching sensation
  • white patches on the tongue and in the mouth, painful to eat
  • red flat rash with scalloped edges that itches or is painful

Considering how many people, especially women, suffer from candida, a yeast infection home test kit can be very helpful. These test kits or strips are cheap and relatively accurate, making them particularly appealing to people with recurring yeast infections.

As soon as you suspect you have another candida infection, you can take the test in the comfort of your own home and start a treatment immediately.

Of course it is better to take some preventive actions, such as changing your diet and habits to prevent getting stuck with another yeast infection.
