Textbook Basketball - Jump Shooting
74How to execute a jump shot
There are 5 pointers to consider in making a jump shot:
- Knees are slightly bent in order to
- Get enough lift when taking the jump shot
- Upon release of the shot - "follow-thru"
- Hold the "follow-thru"
- Shoot the jump shot the same way everytime
Whenever taking the jump sot make sure that you familiarize yourself with this process so that to improve your consistency. The way to improve this is through doing drills that combine movements used during game time. Some shooting drills that can be recomended are listed below:
Elbow 2 Elbow - works on mid range shot
- Run around the key from elbow to elbow
- everytime you reach the elbow
- face the basket and take the shot
- work with your buddy to get the pass and
- rebound the ball for you
- variation can be sliding from elbow to elbow
- concentrate on making the basket and
- try to make at least 10 baskets before switching
- increase your goal as you progress
Curl and Slide - works on you wing and corner shots
- From the bottom of the ring
- curl to the wing like getting off from a screen
- plant your pivot foot (from the right - use left foot)
- face the basket and take the first shot
- then slide to the corner and take the second shot
- do this 10 times before moving to the left side
- on the other side just reverse the process
- use your right foot as your pivot foot.

Reggie Miller is the best shooter I love in NBA.He not only shoot well in usual competition, but also with calm mind to shoot the winning play in special moment. He is the really killer
yeah I remember his killer 3 pointers against New York when he made a 3 then stole the in-bounce then step back face basket three... that was such a "miller time"

For me - the best shooter ever is Larry Bird. He had shown his greatness with his clutch baskets and winning the 3-Point Shootout for several consecutive years.
