This is a sincere thanks to HubPages for allowing me to make Flagship Hubs.

The notion of them sounded pretty good at first; I can't remember how I came to hear about them, but it seemed like a great deal. I considered them to be a challenge: way more writing than I usually put in my Hubs, not to mention video capsules and RSS, both of which I had never included in my Hubs before.

There were some fun topics I wanted to try out, particularly the "How to" ones (I like them because I can write them in a step-by-step format. I can also learn more about something that interests me because I like crafts and making things). I started out with a few like How to make candles and How to make bread. It was time-consuming putting all the necessary elements together, but it was rewarding and nice to get at least $25 each.

However, all the "good" topics started to run out and I was forced to choose some that included subjects I was hardly interested in. Of many of the topics I wondered why they were there. I soon found myself making Flagship Hubs like How to make brochures with free online tools and Forming an LLC Online - MyCorporation, LegalZoom & IncorporateTime. It was sort of neat learning more about topics I knew little about before, but it was also difficult finding the right material and motivating myself to get started on these "projects."

In time, I continued to get more money from making these Flagship Hubs... some I enjoyed making more than others. But I looked at my hub stats and soon realized that all the Flagship Hubs that I had made with the least interest were actually the ones that were getting the most traffic! I finally understood why such random topics were in the topic pool: because that's what people look up most often in searches! And that's why they're good to make as Flagship Hubs! On my Hot Hubs page right now, six of those listed are Flagships.

So thanks again, HubPages, for allowing me to make more money in a way that I initially thought weird but now understand.
