I have awsome parents

So a small break from my life, for the most part anyways. Let me tell you a little something about my family. If you haven’t already read enough about them from them. They have been the perfect match since day one. Which I do not really remember a whole lot about the early stages of their relationship, I do happen to know a lot but this is about my memories of them. Which the first thing I remember about my dad, is I believe the first day we met….I think it was. All I know is mom and dad walked in the front door and I remember looking at dad and thinking he looked like a pirate. I don’t remember exactly why but I did. I have a lot of memories of my parents and I am glad of all of them even the ones of getting in trouble cause I can laugh at them now.

Speaking of getting in trouble the first time that I can really remember getting in trouble was when we lived in a tiny town called West Manchester. My mom sent me to my room for some reason and I know that I was mad at her cause of it; I didn’t want to go to my room. My room was upstairs so I stomped away and started going upstairs and as soon as I got part of the way up right as I was out of visible range I popped my head around the corner and stuck my tongue out at mom. And just after that, all I really remember is darting for my room because they saw me and nothing after that.

I don’t really wanna talk entirely about getting in trouble cause this hub is not about that. But I do have to tell you about what we have came to call “The cream puff incident”….LMFAO I can’t stop laughing just thinking about it. All I know is mom had told me and my sister to put away some of our toys I think. We weren’t exactly in a hurry to put them away and dad came walking into the living room and all of a sudden THUMP!!!, he tripped over one of the toys. He got really upset and was saying I though your mother told you to pick up them toys, and a bunch of other things but I was so struck with fear that I couldn’t move. He just came back from the kitchen for getting a snack, it was a cream puff. All of a sudden he threw the cream puff at the wall really hard and it just simply detonated like a small yellow cream filled puffy bomb. And the stuff went everywhere. The toys were up in a matter of seconds after that.

My mom and dad have always been what I like to call traditional parents, and in my eyes the way all parents should be. They have never argued about anything, granted they don’t agree on everything but they have never let anything so small cause do any damage unlike a lot of parents and couples that I have seen over the years. Growing up I have never heard either of them raise their voice out of anger, the only time I ever heard shouting was “SUPPER’S READY” at everyone cause we were usually scattered through the house. My parents have raised me to make sure that I have a sense of humor; we have always found things to be funny. They have taught me to have what I like to call and “open” sense of humor. I can enjoy any kind of joke. Cause that is the point of a joke right?

Speaking of funny events in life let me tell you about when I learned people can have fake teeth. We were living in Nashville at the time. And our living room was sort of a median between the bedrooms and the kitchen. It was in the morning and dad had just got out of the shower. Me, mom, Leia and Larkin were sitting in the living room watching tv. Well there was a wood walkway between the bedrooms and the kitchen and the rest of the living room was carpet I think. Well dad came out of the bathroom and was walking toward the kitchen. And right as all of us looked over…SNEEZE!!!! Dad had bent part of the way over, it was a powerful sneeze. You can tell it was one of those that you have been waiting for and you were glad to get it out. And right as he sneezed his teeth went flying across the room. I didn’t know what to think. Dad teeth just jumped out of his mouth. Well come to find they were false, and I had thought that was a REALLLY powerful sneeze. I never knew about false teeth prior to that yet along dad had them. IT WAS COOL!!! I sorta secretly wanted some of my own.

But anyways mom has always been the one to come in at night when we had a nightmare and dad was always the one to squash the scary bug and tell me to man up. She never once told me just to go back to bed or get over it, it is just a dream. Even till this day she still gets spooked if I trip over my foot and bust my butt. Even though I am a 24 year old man now, I think there is a part of her that still thinks I can get hurt wayyyy more easily than I can. Dad is the one that just laughs his butt off and says “smooth move ex-lax”.  They have always been the perfect parents and always will be. Granted when I was younger I thought some of my punishments were a bit excessive but now I look back and realize that I was lucky to have had it so easy.  Like the old time “writing sentences”, I hated that and couldn’t figure out how to cheat on it. And the occasional spanking. Now later in life I realize that those were light punishments compared to how some parents punish their kids now a days. I think the worse one of all time was when I was a kid still I had a really bad biting problem. And one day I went up to dad and just bit him for no reason at all. Then all of sudden he cocked back his finger and THUMP right on top of my head…..I never bit again.

When I was younger our neighbor got me really interested in guns, and one day he asked my dad if he could take me shooting and teach me about guns. My dad actually said yes. And now that I am older and see people now, most parents would just be like WHAT YOU WANNA TAKE MY KIDS AROUND GUNS!!!! Don’t get me wrong they have always let me make my own mistakes; they were there to make sure that I learned from them. I have done some pretty stupid stuff over the years and they have always been there to make sure I didn’t get ruined from them. Like my most recent, I went over to mom and dad’s about a month ago like always to hang around and joke and just be with my family. Well I had been having toothaches every now and then and this night for some reason it started hurting more than ever. I mean I went to eat dinner and couldn’t because of how much it was hurting. I couldn’t move and it had brought tears to my eyes. Well there was no emergency dentist to go to and absolutely nothing was helping. Well dad went to the liquor store and bought me a bottle of rum, handed it to me and said see if this helps. They have never allowed such beverages in their home. And mom had picked up some clove oil and handed it to me. Well I started doing shots hoping that the alcohol would either numb the pain or I would just get so drunk I didn’t realize I was in any pain. Then finally I was able to stand up and not be in pain, granted it was hard to stand but the pain was gone. Well I gave dad my keys, and he drove me and my car home and mom followed. Then they left after dropping me off and making sure I made it through the door. The very next day I was able to get in the dentist but didn’t have any way of paying for it and I didn’t have insurance. Well they loaned me the $130 for the tooth extraction and just said pay them back when I can. And finally the pain was over.

In the eyes of a child mother is god. Well you know it is true. No matter what has ever happened and no matter what ever happens I know they always have and always will be there for me and my siblings. And I cannot ever thank them enough. If I could have one wish above all I would wish that every child on this planet could have parents like them. They have taught me over the years how to be a parent. And now that I am one I try my best to be like them. Dad always made sure we were safe and mom always made sure we had food at the dinner table and clean clothes. We have been through some hardships in our lives and we have always stuck together as a family and made it through them all. If it weren’t for my mother I would not know half of what I do know, and it wasn’t for my dad I wouldn’t know the other half. And if it weren’t for both of them I would not be the man I am today. I love both of them with all of my heart and thank god every day of my life that I am one of their children. They taught me love, they taught me life, and they taught me happiness. Thank you, thank you both a million times plus one.

Hi Deece I have been to your last two hubs a couple of times now and after reading the hub and looking at the great photos (very funny by the way I know it is on the outher hub but I will go back there after this post) I have been distracted by some of your other comments. The last one was your dad's latest installment what cool super heroes you and your friends make. Now I am going to have to go back to the first chapter to see how it all started. So blame your dad for my comments being some what late. lol. Another great hub I wish there were more families like yours.

The goofy thing about parents is that a "thank you" and an "I love you" given from the heart is more precious than the whole world.

maggs - lol yeah I have had that happen a bunch, and thank you

Candie - well they get those all the time anyways, I think I say I love you and thank you probably 3 times a day or more...lol

Hi Deece! I'm really happy for you! You had all the time what you called traditional parents, like I wish everyone shoul have! I'm lucky too, because I feel that we have much incommen. I also had parents who were there for me,always. It gave me a good and stabil start in life and that will hold you "standing" even if the worst happen to you. It gives one a stabil ground to fall back on. I have so much to thank my mom and dad for so it will take a lifetime to tell!
