The 10 Must-Visit Cities In America
71Ah, America. I never imagined how much I would miss this place until I lived overseas. I urned for America. Now, I must say, there is no place like it. Not even close. So, in my opinion, and mine alone, these are the 10 Must-Visit Cities in America:
10. Bar Harbor, Maine:
Nestled on the New England coast, this island town has more than enough to offer. Before crossing the bridge onto the island, stop at the little crab shack and pick up a bucket of steamers or a Maine lobster or two. If you'd rather dine out, The Thirsty Whale on Cottage St. has a great seafood platter including scallops, clam strips and shrimp. Stay for happy hour and you might catch a glimpse of the handsome cook. Acadia National Park is a big tourist spot on the island. You can drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain and take some great pics of the islands below. It's a breathtaking view you won't want to miss.
9. San Francisco, California: The Golden Gate Bridge, the hilly streets, Alcatraz, Chinatown, excellent food and the trolley car. Rice a Roni...need I say more?
8. Orlando, Florida: This city is full of life. Disney, Universal and Sea World live here. You can Howl at the Moon on I-drive, catch a flick at Leu Gardens or cozy up with the celebs in Windermere. Orlando truly has it all. Don't forget to check out XL while in town.
7. Snowmass Village, Colorado: Close enough to be a part of Aspen without all the fuss. The only place I know where you can watch a romantic movie atop a snow covered mountain in the middle of winter. A town full of romance. You can feel it in the air. The hiking trails aren't too bad either.
6. New Orleans, Louisiana: Aside from the tragedy that the city revolves around, New Orleans has alot of class and alot of sass. I will never forget the many trips I made to this magiclal city. The most fun I've had in the US. I know that this city has great things in store. They can overcome the past and make this city rock once again! Nothing can compare to the feeling you get when you enter this city, you know amazing things are going to happen.
5. Los Angeles, California: I couldn't leave this out of the list, could I? People come from near and far to visit LA. Songs revolve around this city, dreams come true and fall hard, careers are made and broken. After all, it holds the title "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Celebrity packed, full of dream believers and the rich and famous. You can get anything from a tour of celeb homes to a starring role on a CBS sitcom. The sky is the limit in this dreamland.
4. Miami, Florida: Ay, papi! Hot weather, hot beaches, hot food, hot bodies...HOT HOT HOT! Miami is a cesspool of HOTNESS. If you like your weather hot, your food spicy and your women (or men) naughty, Miami is the place to be.
3. Atlanta, Georgia: ATL, as it is better known. This city is hip and cool with enough soul and southern hospitality to make a dent in the must see list. Word of advice: stay far away from the Greyhound station downtown. It's a whole other world in there!
2. New York City, New York: I heard somewhere that if you stand still in Central Park, you will see yourself pass by at one point in time. It is said that more people visit this city than anywhere in the USA. Who can blame them? NYC has it all. Chinese food around every corner. Little Italy, Chinatown, hot dog carts, skyscrapers, Wall St., Broadway, Times Square and the Statue of Liberty to name a few. My favorite part: sitting on the balcony of a large, open loft with a good book in one hand and a glass of sweet, red wine in the other. What a fabulous city full of fabulous people.
And what, might you ask could possibly top the "Big Apple"?
1. Maui, Hawaii: Oh yeah! More than you know! This is paradise. True and pure paradise. Why isn't it more populated is the question that comes to mind. If I could choose one place to spend my forever, this would be it. Out of the way, out of your mind spectacular and out of control sums up Maui in one word. If you haven't been, GO! If you have and you don't feel the same...you haven't truly experienced Maui. Does the phrase Maui-wowee mean anything to you? It does to me. AMAZING!
There it is; my list. Of course, I haven't been EVERYWHERE...at least, not yet. But I plan to go everywhere I can possibly go. I have been to the small towns, the tiny villages and the large metropolitan cities. These, I believe, are the best of the best. If you've heard tons of things about them, there is good reason for it.
