- My Personal Story: How "Whip It" by DEVO made me a DJ
This is a site I just joined where all you do is tell your memory/story about a specific song. That's it, kinda fun. - Do you like looking at Beautiful Breasts while you work? If so, be a DJ!
Being a DJ is a really great job. Much better than that job you have! ~~ I don't why I wrote so obnoxiously but it made me laugh... - HUB Central Station >> The Funktual Films 1980 - Present
Yup, I watch a lot movies. Not a snob but a taste for the finer filmmaking no less. - The Simpsons 50 Greatest Episodes & Characters
M.E.T.H.O.D??? Hmmm. That sounds familiar?..huh?...That's RIGHT! Method Man is named after this song!
BUT WAIT! There's More!! *****THE FENCE*****
These songs are still on the fence as I can't yet figure out whether or not they are Brilliant Pop Music or "Awesomely Bad" commercial zombie music and believe me, there is a difference....

If you are a crybaby who passionately loves all of these songs, well then this proves once and for all that you are a freakin' cheesedoodle who lives in ignorant bliss thinking that Journey was a pretty rockin' group. (p.s. Randy Jackson was not really in the band like he says he was.)
More Fun just for YOU my Funktual Friends >>>>>>> http://hubpages.com/hub/ENTITLED---A-ROCK-N-ROLL-POEM-or-A-SHAMELESS-RIPOFF

Sledgehammer is great at the end.

#5 and #8 are great examples of GUILTY PLEASURE!
BUT #14 HOW IN THE HELL DID I MISS THAT!
I'm gonna move Summer Breeze down to the Bottom section
and Katrina is #1
Paul M and Elton don't belong in there?????
I have to give a thumbs to j geils and centerfold. i listened to that song over and over again. I bought the 45 on vinal!! do remember that stuff?
Jonathan,
you don't feel a little embarassed going LLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
LA LA LA LLLLAAAAAAAAAAA???
AND Quick note on Silly Love Songs.
You guys know that that was a response song to John Lennon's direct criticism & quote, "Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs!
Centerfold is great.....when your 12.
But the keyboard is carnivale-esqe is it's freakishness!
Na Na Ni Na Na Na! RRRRRRRRGGGGHH!
Lots of Page Views and No Comments by a lot you already.
Either you do not like to participate in contests this fun or
you're afraid I'll send you the awful CD! Ha!
Oh my god, I'm totally not even telling you guys how many on this list I like.
DJ,
I did not know that Paul was ragging on John. What a chump!! It's still a good song. I remember it being on the radio all the time in the car when i was a kid.
C'Mon gamergirl!
I NEED, I NEED!
I literally have a story for every song up there. Not as good as the Lennon story, but still...
Okay..sorry. I was editing and keeping up the traffic over at Headquarters http://hubpages.com/hub/HUB-CENTRAL-STATION--The-F
Where were we? OH YEAH! You were about to guess the secret song!!!!
Pssst. Hey you. yeah....you at the computer. YOU ARE GETTING VERY VERY SLEEPY. YOU ARE AT PERFECT PEACE WITH THE SOUND OF MY VOICE. YOU WANT TO WRITE ME A COMMENT....
LOL---I have to read over the list a few times....I like an embarassing number of these :-)
Okay, I do have one response:
DAMN YOU DJ FUNKTUAL FOR GETTING "SMOOTH CRIMINAL" STUCK IN MY HEAD!!!!!
LOL! It's what I do ma'am!
Am I the only one who played that crappy Moonwalker arcade game? Gotta love MIDI "Smooth Criminal."
Now I'm having flashbacks....LOL
A lot of awful favorites here! I need to add one: "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow. Very guilty pleasure.
Guru-C,
You remind me of another very guilty pleasure of mine:
"escape" (pina coloda song) by Rupert Holmes
I don't change the dial when that comes on
I'm sure you'll be seeing THE COPA in The Novelty Song List I am finishing tonight.
Plus tomorrow, The 450 Greatest Songs of the 90s!!!!!!
how do you compile these songs?
You know, you could publish more hubs and get more traffic if you categorizied those 450 songs into genres. Even if they are all rock for example, you can still further subcategorize, or create your own categories. I just think that 20 per list would be easier for readers to manage. But hey!! what do i know.
I'll never be embarassed to admit I love the spin doctors! I hate the divinyls though, my friends used to sing it to karaoke UGH
good advice. working on that.
and nobody danced to "Ice Ice Baby" right? or is it just noone wants to admit it? LOL
whoah!!! Jerrico in the house!
ALRIGHT STOP, COLLABORATE AND LISTEN..
I need to add two....4 Non Blondes, "What's Going On" and I've belted out Barry's "Mandy" more than once in heavy traffic.
Yes.... "what's going on' needs to be on this is.
Also, the Creed song. Can't think of the name but my friends laugh when I say I like it
4 NON b'S mos def!
every song by creed is evil and must be returned back to satan!
Every Rose has its thorn
eeeesh Poison. That would be a truly guilty pleasure. Nahh!
However "Talk Dirty To Me" is def. going up! 4 Non too
Word Up! - Cameo" I'm guilty as charged, your honor."
rockinjoe is dead on again! let's add a photo! below!
man.. now I've got this horrible medley of TLC, Styx and Meat Loaf stuck in my head.
At night when the bars close down
Brandy walks through a silent town
and loves a man who's not around
Brandy - The Looking Glass
God - that one gets me every time!
I'm sorry DJ.Never heard of theeeeeeeese songs. But if you still want me to participate I would love have some Indian ones included too.....ORRRRRRRRRRRRRR may I will go by the nos. given.I really don't want to get embarrassed.
Idunn,..........WHERE ARE YOU?Need your help.
Juke Box Hero is one of my favorites from the list. It is a little repeatitive and I am sure lots hate it, it reminds me of growing up in the eighties. My parents used to play that song all the time.
I USED TO ACT OUT THE SONG IN MY BEDROOM!
but that one guitar (vrrroom) just blew him away (vvrromm)
saw stars in his eyes and the very next day
bought a beat up six-string from a second hand store
didn't know how to play it but he knew for sure
that one guitar (vrroom) felt good in his hands.....
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT. no matter how much i make fun of myself.
WOW!!! I´m loving this hub (feeling guilty lol) it made me go back and listen to lots of songs I haven´t hear for decades eheheheh. Some of them I´m not shame to admit I still like to hear them once in a while: It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones; Living In America - James Brown; Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry; well, those are my three for today! Did I win the CD Funktual!? LOL
Young girl, get out of my mind My love for you is way out of line Better run, girl You're much too young, girl
a classic!
You hit the nail on the head. Most of these songs I either hate with a passion or really, really like. As far as the ones you're unsure about, here is my opinion.
These belong on the good side of the fence- Summer Breeze, Black Water, and Funky Cold Medina. Please dump these songs- Tubthumping, She's a Lady (BAD), My Humps (I'm gonna puke), We Didn't Start the Fire, and Karma Chameleon. Thanks Angela! This isn't the list I was telling you about though.
http://hubpages.com/hub/100-Worst-Songs-of-All-Tim This is it.
Never Going To Give You UP, sung by............?
Rick Astley #95
What's Up Jonathan?
I openly love Hall and Oats.
Pretty Fly by the Offspring is a pretty embarrassing one.
How come when i make something like this which is a throwaway and I could list off the top of my head, Tons of comments.
When i spend days working on a list like say...450 songs of the 90s and I get nothing. zero comments.
This hub is definitely not a throwaway. I enjoy it and check back on it often. I find it far more interesting than a hub on 90's music-no matter how much time you put into compling it. Don't take it the wrong way, because you know I'm one of your biggest fans. I think it just comes down to a matter of taste. This is a fun hub where the possibilities are endless.....
First of all, there is NO forgiving Paul McCartney for Wings. What an absolute embarassement for the Fab Four that must've been. I had to disown him as an idol. Oh, don't even get me started.
....and on a more positive note, does anyone really like Barry Manilow's Mandy?
Alright, bitchy, positive - I obviously get those 2 confused sometimes.
I love Turn Me Loose, think David Essex did a terrific job on it too.
Love your lists and trust your picks most of the time, but really, can you reconsider the whole Wings thing?
Essex of ROCK ON fame?
Oh yes indeed.
a very long time ago....70's, i think
You know that should be up there as well!!
Tell you what Shirley, I'll let you rescue a song from the list in exchange for your ROCK ON! Deal?
Who do you feel like saving?
p.s. I love Mandy by Manilow and about 3 other songs by him.
Deal, yippee, thx! It's hard to pick just one, but I think I'll go with End of the Line, because those guys are old like me and I remember them back in the day.
I'm at least part cheesedoodle because How Bizarre, Sk8er Boy, and One Night in Bangkok made this decision brutal!
Sorry, didn't mean to offend your Manilow sensibilities! If you want, you can insult my Beatles and believe me, I don't let anybody do that normally.
By the way, there are none of their songs on this list.
That is a deal Shirley! SHIRLEY ANDERSON, Ladies and Gentlemen. (take a bow)
RE: "I'm at least part cheesedoodle" really made me smile btw. thx
The Traveling Wilburys who in case any you forgot is a SUPERGROUP made up of the following musicians
ROY ORBISON, GEORGE HARRISON, BOB DYLAN, TOM PETTY and oh yeah JEFF LYNNE of E.L.O. too for some reason.
You can't offend me, I'm a freakin' cheesedoodle too.
Re: THE BEATLES - I would defend even Maxwell's Silver Hammer if I had too!
I'll even add some photos of Wilburys who have left us!
Thank-you, thank-you very much! :)
You just taught me something.....I didn't know there was an E.L.O. member in the group, how could I not know that?? Love E.L.O., by the way.
I appreciate your protection of my boys, I won't forget it.
The best of Wilburys are gone, too bad, but they left some awesome work behind, both collectively and in other venues. The world would've been different without Roy and George. Just my opinion.
I love the list, but I did not see any WHAM! Wake me up is fruity, but oh so catchy.
This is a great hub, no doubt.
I'm a cheesedoodle and I'm proud of it. But yeah, where was the Wham? Surely they would qualify!
Donna
Wow, it's been awhile since anybody commented here and yet I get hits every single day. Let's start up another convo about how stupid these songs are or how stupid we feel for liking them.
If you don't feel stupid for liking them, no problem. Tell which ones you liked and then I'll tell you you're stupid for your own good! Haha!
Yeah, OK, for your entertainment:
Smooth Criminal - the alien ant farm one
Two Princes - ouch, yeah
Mmmbop - explain to me why I like this and you'll be a psychologist to rival... other psychologists...?
I write sins not tragedies - i love this one! i wont even be ashamed!
Mr. Brightside - why would anybody not like this???
Yeah, I guess these are it. You can laugh.
Thanks for stopping by Maylinda!
How loud will you laugh if I start in with disco? YMCA, I Will Survive, I Love the Nightlife, The Hustle--should I stop there?
Are you familiar with Dean Martin, That's Amore? Volare? (A car commercial, for pity's sake.) Candy Kisses?
The Spinners, Rubberband Man? I still jack that one up.
Be gentle. I had a sheltered childhood.
Hmm. How did you gain access to my wife's playlist? I must admit to liking many songs from this list, including Brandy. And what's wrong with Maxwell's Silver Hammer? I've been known to sing along (badly) with that one. Then, again, I also enjoy barbershop quartet. Never admitted that to anyone!
The Rubberband Man is awesome. I'll always like that one no matter silly I feel.
I also love Brandy. LOVE fk'n Brandy, that guys voice should be preserved in a museum somewhere.
And he's way too polite to comment on the disco. I can tell, he'll always be one of my favorite Hubbers.
Son of a.... Just came back to read through the comments, again. Now I have Juke Box Hero stuck in my head. Guess that's better than Cut The Cake (Average White Band).
I look at your list and say why? Dang it I really like some of those songs!!! Why, Why, Why?
I have made a few CD's that I cal guilty pleasures 1 and 2 and listen to them when I have to go on a road trip. I sing to them and love them, but wouldn't want my firnds to know I like them. LOL. I just love music, and apparently have bad taste.
NOT! I hate the first four for sure, then 8 down to 19, then 20 to 57, then... I'm out...
Its all amatter of opnion, but I like The Superman Song by The Crash Test dummies...the lead singer's voice is gravelly with some guts in it and of course I liked Superman the show...plus its a creative idea.
Maxwell's Silver Hammer--that song tells a story--how can anyone put down a Beatles song???
I like some of these songs.
Smooth Criminal is awesome. So are a few others on this list... I don't see them as guilty pleasures at all.
Very guilty pleasures :
Words by F.R. David
Wind of Change by Scorpions
Foolish by Ashanti
and .....
IIIIIII'MMM STTIIIIIILLLLLL SSTTTAAAAAAANNNDDIIIINNNNNN'''
by Elton John.
and so much more
:O
I Dont Believe You Put Smooth Criminal Near The Top... That Shuddnt Even Be on The List !
I LOVE THAT SONG !! The Choreography is AMAZING.. likee Mindblowing
I Dont Believe It.... How Cudd You ?!
I agree with these being BAD songs. I only like .. 26, 47, and 84. Oh an Smooth Criminal. Keep it up!
