The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing - A New Beginning

If you used to be involved with network marketing, are currently involved with network marketing, or are thinking about getting involved with network marketing, you owe it to yourself to read Ann Sieg's "The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing". I was involved in network marketing years ago and quit disillusioned. I followed everything my upline taught me but I did not experience any significant success in the business. After reading the 7 Great Lies, I now know why. I wanted to get back involved in network marketing, after a 12 year hiatus, but I didn't want to build it the way I was taught in my first tour of duty. I wasn't going to enlist unless I found the key to success so I wouldn't repeat my failures.

Lie #1 - Everyone is your prospect!

This lie is one of the worst and has probably destroyed many a distributor even though very few would admit it. If everyone is your prospect, then that means most people will get in, right? Wrong!

My background is in accounting and if you were to probe my mind, one of the reasons I went into this profession was I thought I didn't have to talk to anyone. For the most part, if you want it that way, you can make it that way. You've heard the old joke "How can you tell that accountant's have more personality than engineers? They look at other people's shoes!" That was me. (No offense to the engineers! Some of my best friends are engineers.) So here I am joining up in my first network marketing business and I was told that everyone is my prospect. Go get ‘em tiger! So Mr. Personality-Challenged (that would be me) went out and faced rejection after rejection. I got no after no. It got to the point that I dreaded getting up in the morning because I knew I had to go prospecting and face more rejection. Some of my upline told me, "Just get a hundred no's and you will be rich." Well, I got a hundred no's and I still wasn't rich. I was actually sliding backwards because back then, in their system, distributors were encouraged to spend a lot of money on books, tapes, and functions. My self-esteem was taking a beating at the same time my wallet was.

Everyone isn't your prospect. The only reason your upline teaches you that is because they don't know any better. Because most distributors did not have any kind of marketing budget to spend in acquiring high quality leads, we were taught to go prospect everyone, basically using brute force to overcome the lack of money. But if your prospects aren't looking, they aren't looking. It was as smart as going to the mall and trying to sell to everyone you see a BMW. If you are not looking to buy a BMW, just because I can prove to you that it is the Ultimate Driving Machine doesn't mean that you are any closer to buying it.

What was needed was a system to attract pre-sold high quality prospects. We have that now through Ann Sieg's Renegade Network Marketing System and Mike Klingler's Renegade University.

Lie #6 - You just don't have enough belief!

This is the lie that is probably the most irritating and downright rude and insulting. This is what an upline says when they don't know what else to say. If people don't need to be motivated to work at a job to earn $30,000 a year, why is it that our belief and lack of motivation the thing that is coming between you and achieving financial independence. Once people understand that it is not lack of belief that is holding them back but lack of skills, or lack of a proper marketing system, that is when things can improve.

The one thing that will change everything in your network marketing business is having a marketing system that attracts the people who are actively pursuing owning their own business or wanting to become financially independent while weeding out the people who are just looking or are not even interested.

Ann Sieg's book gave me hope. I wasn't a failure. I was simply a victim of these lies that have been propagated by ignorant upline. I was seeking a solution to the problems I saw in network marketing and she provided the answer with her Renegade Network Marketing system. Ann has helped bring network marketing into the 21st century by bringing network marketing online. I have not looked back!
