Are you stuck with an unexciting blog that needs a boost to drive traffic back to it? Do you need exciting but factual articles about a product that you are selling on your website/s? With so many freelancers working on the World Wide Web these days, it can be easy to pick one to write for you. However, picking an agency with several writers and editors has more advantages than picking a single writer. Why so?

The Editor Factor

An agency will have at least one editor and more than two writers. This means that your articles (even the bulk ones) will be delivered the soonest time possible because the job can be split by several writers. Also, the articles will pass through the website's editor who will strengthen or improve the articles.

This does not mean that the individual freelance writers are not good ones, but passing the articles through the editor's scrutiny will greatly improve the chances of an article becoming a really good one. Just a word of caution, though. Check the words of the webpage and sample articles.

Do they seem too flashy, too full of SEO stuff that the site looks like trash, and full of grammatical errors? There is really no need to elaborate on this; but in simple words, stay away from that site. The editor might not be the one running the website, but it is his responsibility to correct such errors. If those errors were overlooked, then the website is most likely up to no good at all.

Support

You will be most likely be dealing with an established company who had the necessary tools and several years of experience in dealing with clients such as you. The agency will have every aspect covered including having a real person to bug 24/7 if the articles have problems. There are times when you have to make the agency re-write the article as soon as possible—only an agency offering 24/7 support can help you best. Just think, an individual writer would have to sleep at some point, and shouting at the top of your lungs over the instant messenger will do you no good.

Getting Lower Rates

More writers mean that the company can offer you low rates for your articles. Why? The articles can be divided among several writers who will all find it easier to earn money by writing more articles than writing fewer ones but of a slightly higher pay. However, this is not guaranteed as there are companies who will give you a fixed rate no matter how many you order. Don't despair as most agencies offer copywriting packages especially to good clients.

Overall Impact

It is always easier to just sit back, relax, and wait for your article to arrive. You can have this confidence more when you employ a copywriting marketing company than an individual who might have his own personal issues to attend to. It might be easier to see the work that an individual writer can offer, but the advantages of picking a copywriting agency greatly outweigh those of a freelance writer.

Hey Chillingbreeze,

Nice Hub.  Although I will have to beg to differ on a couple of points.

First is the argument you make that an agency will bring a staff of writers and editors to handle the job better than a freelance copywriter could.  I do agree that having a team of editors and other writers available to handle projects is an advantage.  But you should not assume that a freelance copywriter is without the same resources.  Many freelancers are former corporate and agency copywriters and editors with several years of experience who have decided to strike out on their own.  And a number of them are also members of professional writer's groups.  So these freelance copywriters have often been in the business for years and have plenty of contacts and resources to help in serving their customers.  They access their large pool of professional colleagues on contract to serve their clients.

Another advantage a business will realize when hiring a freelancer is ambition.  A freelance copywriter worth his or her salt will bend over backwards, sideways or whichever way they need to in order to help their client.  That's because that writer isn't just a writer.  They're the owner, president and CEO of their company.  Anything they do directly affects their bottom line so of course they are going to do what is needed to keep that customer pleased.

The second area that you mentioned and where I have a differing opinion is cost savings.  I'm not really sure how in the world an agency can beat an individual copywriter on rates.  The agency has incredible overhead.  Staff salaries, employee benefits and building lease fees alone are substantial expenses for any business.  How does an agency make up these expenses.  In most instances they are passed on to their clients in the form of fees and other charges.   The beauty of the freelancer is that they have little overhead.  In many cases all the freelance writer needs is a computer and an extra bedroom in the house to set up shop.

I think agencies have their place and are a good choice for some businesses.  But if a business wants to save money and try something new in creative marketing and advertising, I would highly recommend contacting a freelance writer.  And if you do - and this holds true before hiring anyone to do a job for you - here are a few steps to follow:

1. Contact businesses they have done work for and ask lots of questions about the copywriter.

2. Ask to see samples of their work.

3. Give them a small job to see if their style compliments your business.

And if it all works out you may have made one of the best business decisions ever because a good freelance copywriter is like gold for any business.  Thanks for allowing me to post on your Hub.  Sorry for being so critical.  I’ll understand if you decide to deny it.  Please feel free to contact me at joe@starrwriter.com.

Best,

Joe
