The BMW
41The BMW - Careful What You Wish For ...
We’d been limping our old car along for the last year or so, so I’d been busy manifesting a new one to come into our lives.
I’d stipulated to the Universe that the car didn’t need to be too flash … just solid, reliable, comfortable and easy to drive.
I’d also stated to the Universe that I was ‘willing to put the hard work in’ to achieve my goal.
My mistake!!
In hindsight I should have left that last bit out.
I should have stated that I wanted a solid, reliable and comfortable car in perfect working order and ready to go …
Through a friend, we were offered a car for free … a mint silver metallic 1982 BMW … all we needed to do was pick it up. We were assured that it was in fantastic condition, and all that would be needed was a new set of brakes and a battery to get it roadworthy and registered and on the road ….
BINGO! I thought.
but not for long.
The car arrived on the back of a truck and from the road it looked great.
By the time it was rolled off the back of the truck I knew we were in for a lot more ‘hard work’ than I’d bargained for.
Every panel had a dent in it to the point where a new bonnet and boot are required and it will have to go off to the panel beaters, it needs a new windscreen and side window, the paint is peeling off all over and there are bits of the engine missing. The brakes and battery are the least of our problems!
‘Hard work’ is an understatement … more like hardly worth it!
But really, I can’t complain too loudly because it was exactly what I’d asked for … The car is not too flash and eventually it will be solid, reliable, comfortable and easy to drive.
- we just have to put in the ‘hard work’ I’d willed and asked for to get it there.
The moral of the story … careful what you wish for and be very specific!
