One of the easiest ways to bring a garden together is with the use of strategic lighting effects, and until quite recently most people plumped for solar powered lights because of their simplicity of use and installation. Not surprisingly these types of garden lights are still very popular with a lot of consumers, however today more and more elaborate alternatives are becoming available.

For example, the forms of lighting that are starting to pop up in gardens around the country include things like low voltage wall lights, LED lights that are sunk into the wood of decked areas, underwater pond lights, multicolored solar lights, illuminated bollards that line pathways and lawn areas and of course novelty garden lights that really make a garden unique. All of these lighting forms are relatively easy to fit and some can even be done without the services of an electrician or specialist light fitter.

Recent Innovations In Garden Lights

Probably the most recent innovation with regards to garden lights is wireless control. This new technology allows you to turn on your outdoor lights from a small remote control - much like the one you'd use to lock your car. You can also link up an ordinary wall mounted switch as well, just to be on the safe side. This wireless control can be used to turn on any style of garden lights, from soffit mounted security lights through to wall mounted mood lights and recessed decking lights. You can even set up several circuits and hubs and have all of your outdoor lights on remote controls.

Why Bother With Garden Lights?

Everyone has their own reasons for installing garden lights however they generally fall into one of two main categories. The first is for security. The garden is probably the main access point for the home and so people understandably want to light the area up. In this case the most popular choice of light is the motion sensor spotlight which turns on automatically when any form of motion is detected within the sensor range.

The second reason for installing garden lights is for socializing purposes. Once you have a nice garden with a decked or patio area then you're going to want to make the most of it, and garden lighting allows you to enjoy the outdoors until late into the night. Garden lights don't have to be expensive or complicated to make an impression - you just need to know what looks good and where to place them.
