Scroll Saw woodwork is beautiful, very intricate and detailed wood work. The pictures have so much detail that it is almost hard to believe that someone could do this by hand with a scroll saw. All of the scroll saw work that is being shown here is done by my father. He is amazing at what he does and I am so proud of him for all that he does. He has put a lot of work into these pieces.

A Scroll Saw uses thin blades that can cut curves and designs that can't be done with a regular saw. It also allows you to start anywhere on a piece of wood and cut continuously. This allows you to be able to add great detail to your work and also make intricate small cuts.

When you are using the scroll for detailed projects, you have to have patience and a steady hand. Sometimes, you have to drill a hole in different ares of the wood to get the scroll blade in to make some of the cuts.

Founding Fathers, Picture Above

The cool thing about scroll saw woodwork, is that there are so many different ways to make pictures come alive.

In the picture above, you will notice the great detail that went into the facial features, background, and clothing. All this is done on a single plaque of wood. It is given a background to make the images in the picture stand out.

The raccoon above comes to life with the detail from the scroll saw, but my dad also used a darker stain to make some of the raccoons features stand out around the ears and eyes.

This is a closeup of the picture of the dragon in another of my dad's pieces. Dad used a very thin sheet of wood to make this design. There are hundreds of cuts in this piece.The cuts are very detailed and intricate and help to add the greatest detail to this picture.

Sure you can and you can distinctly because of the great detail. Scroll saw wood work allows you make the tiniest details become the greatest in making your work come to life.

Dad added a black background to this picture which really makes the design stand out.

Scroll saw woodwork doesn't just have to be cutting designs into a single piece of wood. In this picture, dad cut out the shapes and gave them detail with the scroll saw. He then used different stains and some paints to give each piece he cut out greater character.

After doing all this, he then layered and created the picture. The layering gives the picture great dimension.

The scroll saw can also be used for less detailed woodwork. My dad makes custom name plaques using his scroll. This one he made for my daughter for Christmas. He also made one for my son, Tyler.

My dad does amazing things with his scroll saw. The work is beautiful and has such detail. He makes pictures come to life with all the different ways he uses his saw.
