69What Do You Think?
See results without voting"Gammy, tell me a story," my granddaughter urged. So, I started with "Night night, sleep tight" and Bedbug emerged as the little bug that wouldn't bite. Zee thought it was hilarious that the bug just wanted to sleep and the child kept it awake.
Would the BOOK and the BEDBUG make a good stocking stuffer?

Hello! BEDBUG here. I'm peeking my head out from under the covers to let you know that a book about me is soon to be released!
Now, as you can see from the pictures, I'm rather cute (if I do say so myself). I was born about a year ago but my creator had to try me out on her granddaughter to see if the little tyke would take to me.
WELL! the granddaughter LOVED me. Go figure. Of course, she wanted to know more so I became more than an idea. (Poor grandma was hard-pressed for awhile.)
I started to make an appearance in random sentences and, as time went on, I managed to insert myself into a number of verses. Before I knew it a children's book had been born with "yours truly" as the star character! (Well done, grandma!)
Now, I'm really a nice little bug and I choose to think outside the box. I mean how kewl is a bedbug that DOESN'T bite??
Of course . . . I could bite . . .. I guess I'm like all the children in the world: you CAN BITE . . . but you CAN CHOOSE NOT TO!
Oh dear! Living as I do in children's beds makes life rather challenging. What's a bug gotta do to get SOME SLEEP?
Now, in case folks are wondering, I'm not only portrayed in The Bedbug Who Wouldn't Bite © Melody Rhodes, 2009 but . . . little old me (a toy bug!) comes with the book. IS THAT NEAT OR WHAT? Of course, you'll have to be patient because the book is still in the making.
Poor grandma has been swamped with emails and requests for signed copies of her book. Grandma set up The BEDBUG Blog so that fans can keep abreast of our latest "bu-happenings." Actually, both grandma and I have been keeping late hours and are a bit blurry-eyed.
And, of course, I get up to mischief in future stories in the BEDBUG SERIES. Grandma has set up a Facebook page about The Bedbug Books.
Other places I can be spotted:
AND REMEMBER, IF YOU BRING ME HOME TO LIVE IN YOUR BED . . . I WON'T BITE!

There are two little girls (one is pictured above) who won't go to bed WITHOUT ME. They are trying me out and, so far, I get to sleep with them--if I BEHAVE myself. In other words, I don't BUG them.
Oh . . . and if you think about it, PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT ME. I have a "buhunch" there will be lots of kids who have the BEDBUG TOY and BOOK in their Christmas stockings!!

Hi Joel,
Thanks so much! It is exciting. My granddaughter can't wait to have her very own copy with the bug. She keeps asking: "Gammy, when's the book gonna be ready?"
Very nice web page.Bed bug is soooooo cute!!! I can't wait to hold him.
Hello Bruce,
Yes, he sure is.
A number of youngsters can't wait to get their hands on the book and the bug.
Congratulations! What an accomplishment. And it sounds interesting and witty. Thanks for telling us about it. I look forward to owning a copy.
Hello James,
Thank you for your kind words. My dear granddaughter is nuts about this story.
The other evening, I read her the second story in the series and she loved that one, too!
I think that kids are sometimes in the best position to judge children's books.
When my kids were little, I could always tell which books resonated with them. These were the stories they requested over and over.
It is my hope that "The Bedbug Who Wouldn't Bite" will bring enjoyment to young children the world over.
Thank again.
