5 Of The Best PS3 Fighting Games

Looking for an all action one on one martial arts fighting game for the Playstation 3 console? Then take a look at this selection of 5 of the best PS3 fighting games around at the moment. I've written a short review of each one to highlight some of the most important features as well as to let you know why I thought it was good enough to include on my top 5 list and I've also added amazon links to the page so that you can go and read more info and customer reviews or buy the game. I reckon these games would make ideal gifts to buy for PS3 gamers as well as fun treats to get for yourself, so take a look and see what you think, and if you disagree with my choices then please do let me know in the comments box at the bottom of the page!

Virtua Fighter 5 Virtua Fighter 5
Price: $13.50
List Price: $19.99

Virtua Fighter 5

Virtua Fighter really sets the standard for 3D fighting games. Personally I find that many of these 3D games don't have such clean and fun gameplay as the classic 2D ones and often don't react the way that you would expect them to, and so can be hard to get used to. But Virtua Fighter does it very well with very intuitive action and complete 3D play where you can move your opponent in all directions as well as your own character. A monkey kung fu fighter and a Mexican wrestler add to the list of characters from previous games, and there are also new envorinments for number 5 in the series.

Street Fighter IV Street Fighter IV
Price: $19.99
List Price: $29.99

Street Fighter IV

No matter what your personal preference or what console you are playing on Street Fighter will always be hard to beat. There are some new characters for number 4, released in February 2009, but thankfully there are still plenty of familiar faces which still have the same feel they always did despite some new moves added to their arsenals. There are also new features like rage fuelled super-combos and focus attacks which are god fun. Read a full review of street fighter 4 by following the link

Soul Calibur IV Soul Calibur IV
Price: $15.49
List Price: $29.99

Soul Calibur 4

Another fourth installment in a popular series Soul Calibur 4 is definitely a game for anyone who want to have lots of cool weapons rather than just martial arts fist fighting. There are loads of great characters - each one of which has their own unique weapon to fight with, and the whole storyline revolves around a mythical sword that must be found and destroyed to save the world. Excellent graphics and easy to pick up game play combine to mean that anyone can play this game and enjoy it. For a full review of Soul Calibur 4 follow the link

Tekken 6 Tekken 6
Price: $34.82
List Price: $59.99

Tekken 6

There realy are plenty of big brands and long runing series out there when it comes to one on one fighting games, and this is another classic, this time on its 6th installment and still going strong. Compared to the other I find Tekken has an interesting storyline and more imaginative characters, and number 6 also has brilliant graphics to go along with that. The fighting itself is not massively changed from previous games, just a few new characters and moves, but then if it aint broke don't fix it I say.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
Price: $29.99
List Price: $39.99

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe

This seemed like a bit of a strange combination to me when i first saw it - the blood and gore and visous killing moves that Mortal Kombat is known for combined with the much more clean cut world of DC comics with its superheros such as superman, the flash and batman along with the various villains, but it does actually work really well. Perhaps it is still abit of a novelty, but if your a fan of the DC characters, or if your an avid player of fighting games and your looking for something a bit different from the others, then you will definitely enjoy playing this game.
