The Best One On One Fighting Games for the PSP

From boxing to martial arts to role playing games with a strong fighting element, here is my selection of what I think are the 5 best fighting games around at the moment to play on your PlayStation Portable.

I've written a short review of each one and there is a link to the amazon page if you want more information. Hope you like them, and please feel free to use the comments box at the bottom of the page if you think that you know a game that hould be here which I've missed out.

Tekken - Dark Resurrection Tekken - Dark Resurrection
Price: $13.50
List Price: $19.99

Tekken Dark Ressurection

The Tekken games have always been at or around the top of the tree for one-on-one fighting games, and Dark Ressurection for the PSP is up there too. I do find it a bit difficult to be objective because I really have a soft spot for Tekken games after a period of unemployment in my early 20's when I was sharing a house with friends and we played Tekken more than is wholesome, but I do think this one is a good game. There are over 30 characters to fight as, including some new ones as well as the old favourites, 19 stages in the tournament,  and multiplayer fighting through the wi-fi connection.

Mortal Kombat Unchained Mortal Kombat Unchained
Price: $2.95
List Price: $19.99

Mortal Komat Unchained

This game takes the one-on-one fighting sytle of other Mortal Kombat games and adds an RPG (role playing game) element where you can real time worlds populated with various cpu controlled characters fighting and finding the hidden features. Each character has two of fatality moves that Mortal Kombat is known for, and there is also an additional strategy game based around chess but with added gore - one of he hngs that Mortal Kombat games always do best.

God of War Chains of Olympus God of War Chains of Olympus
Price: $3.91
List Price: $19.99

God of War - Chains of Olympos

If your looking for something that is basically a fantasy RPG game but which has good one on one fighting that depends on the players skill rather than just the strength of the characters attributes as is often the case with role playing games then God of War, Chains of Olympos is probably the best game of this type around. As with all God of War games there is also great mythological back story and a strong puzzle solving element that you need to overcome to progress through the game.

Justice League Heroes Justice League Heroes
Price: $11.50
List Price: $19.99

Justice League Heroes

If you're a fan of comic books and superhero's then this game is absolutely packed full of them. Bringing together Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman and other familiar heroes to fight the evil Brainiac and his cronies. Great graphics and plenty to keep you playing as you take on the badguys with different characters and on different skill levels as you build up your superhero's powers.

Fight Night Round 3 Fight Night Round 3
Price: $13.95
List Price: $19.99

Fight Night Round 3

Boxing at its best for the PSP. Customize your character and develop your own fighting style, take a chance on one of the big impact punches which leave you open to a counter but put your opponent on the canvas if you manage to land them, and you also get to be involved in all of the pre fight trash talking and fights and the weigh in.

This is great. I don't have a PSP but I loooove fighting games so if I somehow get one this is good to know. I love Tekken also by the way. When I was 13-14, that is all I would do on my weekends. Go to the arcade and play Tekken 3 and Tag.
