The Best Movies Endings ever!

Since I did a hub on worst movie endings I figured I should do one on the best movie endings. I love it when you're watching a movie and you're expecting one thing to happen and the complete opposite thing happens. Like a twist! I also like when everything doesn't end up totally perfect or when there is no happy ending what so ever. More realistic than most movies... hmm cough War of the Worlds cough.. Sorry I had something in my throat.

Little Miss Sunshine

Little Miss Sunshine

Number one is Little Miss Sunshine. This one is sort of a subtle ending because it is like ha-ha it ended and that's it. But it totally has a surprise ending! A little girl had a dream of being Little Miss Sunshine, which is a pageant for seven year olds. But she wasn't the prettiest girl in the competition so her family thought everyone was going to laugh at her. I was expecting that the little girl, Olive, was going to do an awesome performance and prove her family wrong. But then she does this strip routine that her perverted Grandpa taught her. She ripped of her pants and threw them into the crowd and left all the little stepford mommies with their mouths left open. Of course that didn't leave a very good taste in the Little Miss Sunshine judges mouth, but the were very generous and said they wouldn't sue as long as they never ever sign their daughter up for another beauty pageant in the state of California, ever. Good ending.

Secret Window

Secret Window

Next is Secret Window with its twisted satisfying ending. Johnny Depp plays a physco who imagines this character that is trying to kill him. But really it is his alter ego that can do all the vicious acts that his regular ego doesn't have the guts to do itself. When Johnny Depp is on the evil side he murders his ex-wife and her beau. He buries both bodies then plants corn on the top of them. In the end not only does he get away with both murders but he is also eating the corn that is growing on two rotting bodies. How about that for an ending? It is not like every other movie where the bad guy goes to jail for the rest of his life. I love that you like Johnny through out the entire movie because you think he is innocent but then you find out that he is murder with no conscience and you still love him! I mean I didn't want him to get caught! Not just because I wanted a good ending but because I fell in love with him during the movie.

Se7en

Se7en

Se7en is third on the list. I mean seriously did anyone know what Kevin Spacey was planning? I had no idea. He had everything planned out. Although he died at the end, he still won because that is what he wanted. For people who haven't seen this movie, the man, Kevin Spacey, murdered five people because they were committing at least one of the seven deadly sins. The five he had already taken care of were Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Pride, and Lust. He then turned himself in so that he could take the two detectives who were hunting him out to the desert to show them a dead body that he claims he murdered and buried out there. They comply just to get the body but when walking out there a truck starts coming down the road. It is delivering a little package for one of the detectives, Brad Pitt. Kevin Spacey is getting into Brad's head while Morgan is taking care of the truck. Kevin tells him that Brad's wife's head is in the box. Brad, being the good husband that he is starts freaking out. Morgan comes back after seeing the head and begs Brad not to kill Kevin because that is exactly what he wants. But Brad was too emotional to think straight so he kills Kevin Spacey! I had no idea that was going to happen. I mean the bad guy wins once again! Kevin Spacey dies for committing Envy (the sixth deadly sin) because he envied Brad Pitt‘s life. And Brad goes to jail for committing Wrath, the seventh and final deadly sin. Kevin Spacey had it all planned out from the beginning.

Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key was the most surprising ending I have ever seen. It is about a girl, Caroline, (Kate Hudson) who goes to this creepy house to help take care of a dying man, Ben. But she discovers there are weird Hoodoo things going on. She finds out that Ben's wife, Violet, is the one that is hurting him and poisoning him so he can't talk. She spends most of her time trying to figure out what she can do for Ben but at the end she realizes the wife is really after her. She tries to save herself but Violet traps her in this Hoodoo circle that she can't leave then she pushes this mirror into her. And they switched bodies. I mean it was totally awesome because it was unexpected and you find out that these Masters of Hoodoo have been moving into other younger bodies so that they keep living. You don't find out what is going on until the end, you think Violet is going to sacrifice Caroline's life but she only sacrificed her body and the years she had left of her life. It was pretty cool because she did the same thing with Ben, but it was her husband that was in his body. It is creepy and once again the bad guys win! So not only did things not go according to plan but it was a complete shock at the end. Totally unexpected.

Cloverfield

Cloverfield

Cloverfield has the best ending a person could ask for! Now you may argue that it had the worst ending ever because it didn't really have any closure, but this movie rocked my flip flops! It is just a bunch of friends that are running from the Cloverfield monster which is ripping things to shreds, not to mention it had little spider babies that are eating humans like they are an afternoon snack. The movie was made to look like it was shot with a camcorder, that any person is able to buy and a lot of people own. A whole character in the movie is a camera man. So it is not like, how did they catch this all on film? What I like about the ending is everyone dies! Even the Statue of Liberty (the one in New York) gets beheaded! That may sound like a horror ending to most people but it is the most realistic and best ending for this type of movie. I mean how many hero's can you have that are perfectly normal until the world is in danger, then all of a sudden they have karate moves and super strength. Everyone is normal and everyone is... dead! This ending is spectacular!

Those are just the best endings. I mean they didn't turn out the way people expected and the bad guys won. I mean yes the good guys catch the bad guys most of the time but there are incidents where the bad guy get away. So you got to mix it up a little bit. I love movies like these.

Comments?

I would love to hear about other good endings that surprised you or left you with a good feeling! So leave a comment please.

Oh yeah. Se7en was awesome. I jumped out of my seat when I saw the killer had ANGERED Brad Pitt and Morgan is like: "If you do this he wins." Love that movie.

The Usual Suspects had a great ending too and also involves Kevin Spacey.

Thanks for writing the best ending list. I like surpise endings too. I didn't see Fight Club on your list which had the biggest surprise ending to me. In fact I had to watch it a couple times before I saw all the clues. I liked how The Break Up ended too. It wasn't your typical love story ending. Another great hub Tater.

I considered both of those movies for my list but I see Fight Club on every surprising list amd I wanted mine to be a little different. Plus I already had a guy going physco at the end (Secret Window). The Break-Up did have a good ending. I liked that they didn't stay together. I mean not every relationship works and they showed that.

Tater2tot has spoken and I listened. Bill & Ted have prevailed!

Re: this hub. Put the Spoiler Alert at the top IMO.

The Usual Suspects is the definitive movie in this topic for me as well.

I also love the surprise endings in.. WAITRESS, STRANGER THAN FICTION, CUCKOO'S NEST, TRAINSPOTTING, THE CONSTANT GARDENER, FRESH, THE SIXTH SENSE, & A SCANNER DARKLY

Yeah I'd put the spoiler alert at the top for this one. The other hub (worse endings) - spoiler alert at the bottom, no problem because the endings suck anyway but this is the best endings - I think the spoiler alert should go at the top.

To be honest I only read the ones that I saw already but thanks for the great suggestions - I'll be watching Little Miss Sunshine and Cloverfield this weekend.

Oh, just saw Saw III - ending is good. I hated Skeleton Key btw.

Regarding CLOVERFIELD, JJ Abrams could have made the greatest TV movie of all time, instead he added 20 minutes of cutting room fodder. I offer you this! If the public could have had small breaks (like commercials in a TV movie provide) they wouldn't be complaining of motion sickness.

PLUS ~ If your gonna remake Godzilla in the Blair Witch mode, fine, BUT DON'T tell us in the special features that you studied actual 9/11 footage to get the intensity right. (FINGER IN MOUTH GAGGING) Talk about poor taste.

Glad they could help you pal. Sicko. I love his show LOST too but that just pissed me off.

Dj funktual - I will run over to blockbuster to get the Usual Suspects this weekend. I thought Stranger Than Fiction had a bad ending. I mean it is the way it was supposed to end but it was expected. But I liked the Sixth Sense. I was so shocked.

Kpfingaz- The title says endings I figure people should know better than to read stuff that they don't wanna know about. I don't know why you didn't like Skeleton Ke, I thought it was very clever and had a great ending! You will like Little Miss Sunshine! It is hilarious!

Dj Funktual (again)- You are absolutely right it would have been better if there were commercial in between parts or a little bit steady at times. I had no idea JJ Abrams said that. I liked the show Lost when it first came out but it never answered any questions so I quit watching it.

Thanks for your comments!

Put it at the top.  Tell ya why, cause I like THIS HUB.

It's a courtesy to people who might WANNA read YOUR stuff but don't realize yet that you are not reviewing the films, you are spoiling them.  I LOVE Twisted, in fact I think a Hub called 5 Movies I''m gonna Spoil for you is even funnier!  If I hadn't seen Little Miss Sunshine yet I would have been quite pissed at you..

I didn't think it was funny except Grandpa.  I liked it but the School recital ending AGAIN?

How many films end this way?

Parenthood with Steve Martin's kid shredding the stage was half ripped-off and the other half rip goes to Napoleon Dynamite.  Don't get me wrong the family dynamic is very strong.  But I didn't laugh out loud unless Grandpa was speaking the truth.  BTW,  "Sleep With a lot of Women" isn't bad advice.

COMPROMISE:  you don't move the Spoiler Note BUT you switch Lil Miss with either 7 or the Johnny Depp one because at least by the time they read the first one they'll already know, hey this girl is gonna give away endings her.  Everybody saw Se7en.    You won't be spoiling it for anyone.

Although, I thought everyone saw The Usual Suspects too.  tsk tsk.

How would you feel if I spoiled the ending of this movie for you?

I could do with one sentence ya know.

Trust me.

I wouldn't steer you wrong. And I wouldn't spoil your fun either.

Enjoy it. It kicks your ass and sends you home.

Notice i never give the end away in mine Ever and they're damn old movies!

DJ Funktual- I am happy that you like my hub! I thought Little Miss Sunshine was hilarious the whole way through. Yes, the Grandpa was probably the funniest part, when he was being shoved out of a hospital window. "Sleep with a lot of women"? That is some weird advice out of the blew. (and he wasn't saying sleep) I didn't think the ending was a rip off from Napoleon Dynamite because people loved Napoleon’s dance and most people were appalled by Olive's stripper dance.

I appreciate your comments on the spoiler alert being at the bottom. I think it is funny and the perfect ending for a endings hub. I thought most people would know that this hub was about endings, by the title. I didn't cover up the title or trick anybody into reading something they didn't want to know about.

Are you threatening me with the ending of The Usual Suspects? I don't know why I should change or compromise MY hub when I like it the way it is.

But I will put the spoiler at the top just for you DJ. If you say you wouldn't steer me wrong.... than I believe you. Yet another confrontation we are having. We both have different opinions and both are respectable.

Peace, Tayler!

OMG.  yer right.  I reread and it didn't sound like that in my head.  I should edit better.  My point was only "do unto others".  No threats here!

Everything you say is right on, and oh yeah.  Classy Move.  I did like the ending before though too.  That's why I just fugured to switch the capsules.

Okay since it's you. I'll give 2 questions about the 100 Funniest countdown. 1) you can pick one movie to ask if it makes it at all. AND 2) you can ask me what place 1 certain movie came in.

Yay! Thank you. Umm.. You want me to ask the questions on your hub?

Haha. DJ Funkual and I were having a discussion on a hub of his aboiut American Beauty, so it is funny that you bring that up. I hated American Beauty because it had a distgusting idea but DJ thought it was funny and a good movie. I got to admit the ending was good because I was surprised the father was gay. But I didn't like the movie over all.

Okay.. does the Hot Chick make the list? no wait... does Tommy Boy? No... does Superbad?.. I can't decide? Does any of those make it?

and two.. I don't know how I can ask you this when I don't know what movies are going to be on there??

Great hub! I've seen most of these movies and agree with you on those. Loved Little Miss Sunshine - the whole movie was a fun surprise! Can I add an old movie to your list? I think the Redford/Newman version of Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid had a great ending! It leaves you wondering how they could live through it but it doesn't kill them off either.

Keep writing!

The Light House also had a great ending- if you like those types of movies- which I do.

Hi everyone, I am new here, wow, a place to write just about anything. I love movies and would like to participate in the "Best Endings" but I'm not sure how! I've got many good ones, but my best "feel good" movie ending is Last Holiday. :::SPOILER!!!::: Please don't read if you don't want to know the end, but if you do here it is! ::ducking:: :) Queen Latifa plays an ordinary worker in a Dept. Store. She gets a wrong diagnosis from her doctor that she is going to die. After withdrawing her life's savings and spluging on an extravigant trip where she's thought to be some kind of celebrity and treated as such, she returns home and learns that her doctor was wrong, and she is not going to die. Having a crush on a man she works with, she figures he'll never get to know her, but when he sees she's not been to work, he goes after her. Which brings that heart warming ending, that even though she'd spent all her savings, she found something much more valuable, and that is true love. So, even if you haven't seen it, and you just want to feel good at the end of the movie, it's one you can see over again and still feel good! It's a real heartwarmer, so get comfy, turn off your phone :) and go into her world, and know you're going to end up with a great ending! Thanks to all who read, as I said I am new here, and if I stepped on anyone toes, I'm sorry! And I'll be glad to know comments if I did that or not :) -Kat

Hi Kat! Welcome to hubpages, and thanks for the comment.

It's interesting that you would say the Last Holiday, because although, I do like that movie, I wouldn't say it was one of the best endings. Like you said everything turned out perfect for her, she got her restaurant, she married LL Cool J (hottie), and of course she wasn't dying. The ending did leave with a good feeling and it was the appropriate ending for this movie but it wasn't surprising or different from any other romantic comedy.

Do you have any others that you liked?

Good hub. I liked the Secret Window one, too, but I already read the Stephen King novelette, "Secret Window, Secret Garden", so I knew what was coming.

Little Miss Sunshine was cool. More because of the people than the ending, I thought.

Everybody likes this hub, dija notice? You're good at this.
