The Best Symbian S60 Application
71Hi, I decided to write an article/hub about my favourite applications for Symbian S60 smartphones.
I am 19y old student and I listen music, browse web, chat with my friends, watch youtube and do other things people like I do. That's why you won't find here any office, tax-calculators, world time and other applications that I don't use (because I just don' need them).
1.) Mobile Agent (icq client)
Very handy icq client. Supports Jabber protocol (beta now), proxy servers, skins, custom smileys and sounds, avatars, X-status, groups... You can set pop-up window to notify new messages when minimized. It has antispam filter, copy-paste and history browser. The only problem is, that application is not signed. So you need hacked phone or working certificate to make it work.
2.) MobiTubia (Youtube video player) [page]
"MobiTubia is Flash Video (FLV) Player and Full-Function YouTube portal application with real-time decoding for Series 60 3rd Edition devices. User interface was neatly designed to be luxurious look."
This is definition of MobiTubia from it's homepage. You can search videos, watch "Popular Clips" and "Recently Featured", you can watch video by Youtube ID, or you can "Open Clip URL". You simply write an address and MobiTubia finds all videos on that site.
3.) Gmail (official Gmail java client) [page]
Gmail is mail client written in java (Series40 users can use it too). Got nothing to say about it is Gmail as you know it from your browser. Fast, easy and ... useful? :)
4.) Mobbler (s60 audio scrobbler and Last.fm radio player) [page]
This application allows you to listen Last.fm radio stations and scrobble music you listened. You can choose stations by artist, tag, user, recommended, loved, neigbourhood and personal. You can also play your playlist. You just simply listen to music (supports only built in music player :/ ) with your Mobbler running in the background. Music is logged and when you connect Mobbler sends your data to your Last.fm account.
5.) Opera Mini (web browser) [page]
Very good web browser for faster mobile experience as data is compressed on Opera servers before sent to your mobile. As a result you save data and time. Great feature is searching with search engines. You can add your own or remove not needed. Synchronizing bookmarks and "speed dial" with opera on your "big" computer can be very useful sometimes...
Last thing to say. All application are free so you can try them and make your opinion. Hope it's something new for you.
