50
I'm sure all of us at one time or another have suffered through a headache, whether is be from stress, colds, flu, or something else. Needless to say they can be inhibiting to a degree when we are just trying to go about our normal everyday lives. Headaches are alarm signals that signify psychological or physical overload. There are different types of headaches that differ on where and how pain occurs. They can be from tension, cluster, simple or combination to migraine which can impair vision and can nausea. Many things can trigger a headache and one common symptom of a headache is tense muscles in the head or neck. Headaches can come from the stresses of a new job, a recent move, or a family tragedy. Caffeine withdrawals, allergies, too much alcohol or certain infectious diseases are also culprits in causes of headaches. There are ways to help cope with headaches through natural methods, which includes relaxation methods, homeopathic remedies, and massage. These remedies can often relieve pain so that standard medication is not necessary.
Relax Away A Headache
To treat a headache by relaxion is to first clear all noise pollution and light from your room. Next it is important to ventilate the room by using a quite fan that it not blowing directly on you. Close all windows and blinds or curtains in the room. If you live on or near a busy street and can still hear noise, put cotton or ear plugs in your ears.Simply try to relax and clear all thoughts from your mind. Relax for at lease 45 minutes to an hour. If you fall asleep, that's okay too.(Just set an alarm before relaxing if you have a later committment).
Acupressure
Another simple technique to help with headaches is to use your thumb and index finger and press against the bridge of your nose at the corners of your eyes. You can also rub the the fleshy webbing between the the index finger and thumb for as long as you can.
Herbal Aids
It is best first to speak with your health care provider or a nutritionist before taking many herbal supplements even if you have no known health problems.
One herb which is known to relieve tension headaches is kava kava. Herbs which are used for migraines are feverfew and ginkgo biloba.
Footbath
Footbaths are not just for that wonderful pedicure. For the headache remedy, a footbath diverts the blood supply form your head to your feet. Soaking the feet in about 95 degrees F is the optimum temperature, so keep adding hot water about every 5 minutes for two turns. After soaking in the very warm water, add cold water to reach a luke-warm foot bath for a proper cool down. Follow up by putting on warm socks and relax for another 15 to 20 minutes.

Hello laila, I think for continued good health, if natural herbal remedies can be used instead of manufactured drugs that usually only masks the pain, the better for the Human body. That's my belief anyway.
Laringo, I never knew that foot baths help with headaches but it makes perfect sense. I will have to give it a try the next time I have a headache. Thanks!
Hi Triplet Mom, It is amazing how many natural and practical things we can do for ourselves. Thnaks for the comments. By the way, your triplets are adorable.
Thx for this info. I suffer from severe headache bouts. I don't take pain killers. Hot fomentation works for me sometimes. I guess I can try acupressure now.
Hello anjalichugh, The relaxation method is also very helpful for many ailments, not just headaches. I have used acupressure many times and it does work if done correctly. Thanks for your comments.
Wow I never knew footbath could help release the pain in the head. Thanks for sharing. Will try this remedy when the time comes. Godbless:)
Hi again dayeebee, now you can relieve a headache and give yourself a pedicure at the same time. Have a blessed evening and weekend.
Wow many good ideas ..I am lucky..better knock on wood though, I don't get headaches...After my second child was born I was getting migranes and went to this great chiropracter..(he was blind too) and he gave me a treatment and told if I got a headache to come back and he would give me another for free...I have had a few small headaches in all these years but I think I could count them on one hand...I know I am lucky...
I have actually tried the between the thumb and it works...Great hub sweetie..Thanks G-Ma :o) Hubs & Peace
Thanks G-Ma, The tip on your chiropracter is right on time. I've never been to one, but I heard they can work wonders. I'm also glad you got rid of your migraines. Take care and thanks for the comments.
For me laying down and taking a nap is the only sure fire way to get rid of a headache. If I don't the chances are high that the plain headache will turn into a migraine.
Erick, whatever works for you is good. I appreciate your comments.
