Watch Real Football Every week!

Football, or soccer as it is called in the U.S., is the most popular sports around the globe. That's what I thought when I came to America. But once you set your feet in the U.S., you are going to realize that folks here do not watch Soccer a whole lot. In fact, European football is not even called football in the U.S. It's called soccer. It's true that football is very popular in this nation, but that's a whole different game involving the Patriots and the Eagles instead of AC Milans and Real Madrids of this world.

I admit that the American football is very interesting and addictive to a certain point. But you shouldn't give up watching the sports you love just because they are not shown on regular TV stations. So I decided to go on a mission to find out how you can watch soccer in the U.S.:

  • Cable/Satellite TV: if you are hoping to watch soccer on TV without paying those hefty cable bills, you are sadly mistaken. You can always sign up for a regular Cable TV package for $40-50 a month and watch Soccer on ESPN. The coverage includes a few UEFA champions league matches (if you are lucky) and MLS soccer. Not really the best way to catch Soccer on TV.
  • Sports Package: Cable and Satellite companies allow you to gain access to more sports channel for a premium. You could expect to pay anything between $10-$30 more a month to gain access to channels such as FSN and Goal TV. These channels bring you premiere league and La Liga coverage.
  • PPV: a few soccer matches are provided to you on PPV. This is by no means the best way to watch soccer, but if you can afford it, you can catch a few important soccer games on PPV.
  • Online Subscriptions: websites such as UEFA.com allow you to buy coverage for UEFA Champions League for a day, a month, or a full season. This could cost you as much as $8 a day.
  • Internet TV packages: perhaps the best way to watch soccer in U.S. is by buying a Satellite for PC package. These packages cost between $20-$100 (one time fee), but they give you access to International channels, including EuroSports. Keep in mind that you will be watching soccer as it is televised in foreign countries, so the accent may sound a bit funny to you. But you can rest assured that your soccer won't be interrupted by college basketball or American Football.

Basketball, the NFL, and baseball are wonderful sports, but that doesn't mean you should settle for less soccer. When I came to this country, I realized that soccer didn't get too much respect in this part of the world. But I wasn't going to settle for anything else. And if you love soccer, you shouldn't either. By the way, the majority of folks in the world call soccer football, so why can't we?

I have had no problem with JohnQ. But you've got to have highspeed Internet. You are right on that. I just can't stand seeing highschool basketball get more respect in this country that UEFA football.
