Now, remember these feelings you're evoking and commit them to memory - all the benefits of quitting smoking - the why. Â Think of your health, your family, your life. Â Smoking is hindering or going to hinder you from enjoying all that. Â So, don't let it.
When you're mind is ready, YOU are ready to QUIT SMOKING COLD TURKEY, because now you/your brain/your mind/your body, knows WHY you want to QUIT SMOKING and that you've agreed to do everything in your power to achieve that goal.

Quitting smoking cold turkey is generally regarded as one of the most difficult ways to quit. Most people reach for nicotine replacements which, oddly, undermine their quit attempts. There are a few ways, though, to quit cold turkey that work effectively.
Most importantly, stay away from nicotine replacements. While it seems like an easy way out, all they end up doing is keeping your nicotine levels high, which puts your mind in a state that makes it easier for it to accept more nicotine. Completely cleansing your body of the stuff is the first and most important part of quitting cold turkey.
Second, make sure that your friends and family know that you're quitting smoking. You don't want someone pressuring you into smoking by thinking that you haven't quit for good, particularly someone who doesn't know that you've quit offering you a cigarette. As all smokers know, being handed a cigarette pretty much guarantees that you're, surprisingly, going to smoke it. As someone who is quitting, you want to stay away from that temptation for as long as possible until you've built up your defenses against smoking.
Also note that your smoking buddies may act strangely towards you for a bit, sometimes even angry. They aren't actually upset with you, but your success in quitting exposes their glaring inability to do the same, and jealousy can manifest itself as anger. If they manage to get you to smoke again, then it shows them that, hey, this quitting smoking thing is hard and I shouldn't bother with it.

There should also be some methods of dealing with the aspects of physical dependency.
The method that worked so well for someone else may not work at all for another person. Each person trying to quit has to find what works best on a personal basis. What every smoker who wants to quit needs to have, however, is the will necessary to quit.
The cold turkey strategy more often than not turns on the one trying to quit, causing stress which only increases the craving for a cigarette. Smokers who stop cold turkey should avoid nicotine patches and other such substitutes for smoking.
