The Best of the Food Network
71My Favorites From the Food Network
Whether you like to cook, or just like to watch other people cooking, the Food Network likely has a show just for you. Here are a few of my favorites.
Tyler Florence's Fettucine Diablo
Tyler Florence
Yum. And his cooking isn't bad either. But seriously, he is one of the more talented on-air chefs on the network. His on-camera personality is warm and inviting. He speaks to his audience as if he is really teaching something - he never comes off as condescending or elite. His recipes are well written and easy to recreate in your home kitchen. Some of my favorite Tyler Florence recipes are below. He has a few shows on the Food Network, but my favorite is "Tyler's Ultimate" where he searches the world over for the best of the best recipes and then cooks them back in his kitchen.
My Favorite Tyler Florence Recipes
- Caesar Salad Dressing
Lemon, garlic and anchovies, oh my! I've made this dressing more than a few times. Paired with a few croutons and shaved Parmesean cheese you've got a casear salad that will impress your friends and family. - Rigatoni, Eggplant and Sausage Bake
My husband and I made this immediately after the episode aired, and it was one of the best baked pasta dishes we ever tasted. I highly recommend this simple but delicious recipe.
My Favorite Guy Fieri Recipes
- Roasted Corn Quesadillas
Delicious and easy...the best part is you can really add one or two of your own ingredients to give it your own flair. - Mac-Daddi-Roni Salad
This is a great make-ahead recipe, so if you have kids or are expecting company, give this one a try. It's a crowd pleaser for any age!
Guy Fieri
Guy was the season one winner of the Food Network show Next Great Food Network Star and he hasn't disappointed! His show, Guy's Big Bite, features hearty bar food with a twist. He is very entertaining to watch and he always manages to sneak a drink while he's cooking...just my style! I don't always cook that type of food in my home (although I wish I could) but I can watch his show for the entertainment alone.
Alton Brown
He's the food science geek I love to learn from. When you are rushing through cooking dinner for your hungry family, it's easy to forget all those interesting facts that make food wonderful. Alton Brown's show, Good Eats, is a great reminder that cooking food, although full of heart, is based in science. It's great to understand why it's important to add eggs to desserts and why you must use lemon juice in your fruit salad to slow down the oxidation of the fruit (what makes it brown).
Good Eats: What's Up Duck?
Ina Garten
Ina Garten, or the Barefoot Contessa, features a wide range of recipes on her show. And while I can easily do without all of the table setting, guest greeting and the sound of her laughing, her cooking is, in one word, excellent. She speaks to the camera with warmth in her voice. She looks like she actually enjoys eating her food and you can really believe that cooking is her passion. She has quite an impressive background if you have the time to catch her Chefography on the Food Network. I love to test her recipes in my kitchen, especially the meat and seafood dishes, and I will link a few of my favorites below.
Ina Garten Links
- Program Note for Ina's Chefography
According to the Food Network they are running a Chefography marathon sometime in March, and I highly recommend the Ina Garten episode. She's got such a great background! - Tuna Tartare
I LOVE this recipe, but then again, I love tuna and avocados. You won't find a fresher tasting tuna recipe that can be used as an appetizer or even as the main attraction. - Guacamole
Ina's guacamole recipe is very much like my own, which is why I like hers so much. ;) Very tasty and easy to make!
Honorable Mentions
I do enjoy watching other chefs on the Food Network on occasion.
- Bobby Flay: Great chef and tasty recipes, but can come off as arrogant at times. I like his new "Throwdown" show.
- Rachel Ray: I've learned a lot from her show about getting good food cooked quickly, which is important in my house, but since her face is everywhere these days, I didn't think she needed another plug.
- Paula Dean: In small doses, she isn't bad. Her desserts look fabulous she's got great appetizer recipes.

Hi Bob, thanks for the feedback! =)
I used to watch Rachel a lot in the beginning...I think I see her face too much these days and so I don't automatically keep her on (unless she's making something that I like!)
Giada is my favorite! She makes it all seem so very easy. Great Hub!!! Wonderful idea!
Hi Kat07! Thanks for checking it out...I like Giada, I wish I could have her figure with all that good food around her! =)
I KNOW!!!
I had the opprotunity to work with Paula Dean's husband about a year ago. He's a great guy and really interesting. What I wasn't expecting though was that he will talk your ear off! I don't think I've ever met anyone who talks so much, and it was a shock because he's so quiet on Paula's show. He's really nice though and a lot of fun.
Giada? She's dreamy. (sigh) : )
Hey, mathan...so funny you should mention her husband. I was watching her show the other day and she said that he was a picky eater! Imagine being married to Paula Dean and not eating every single morsel that comes from her kitchen! =) Thanks for reading!
i love the food network. nice review, you ve included most of my favorites!
