However there are solutions, the safest and pretty full proof way to get hold of a wii this Christmas is eBay, that’s right the auction website. I know you know this already, of course you will be paying allot over the asking price but here’s the thing you don’t have to overpay.

So how do you get one at only slightly over the recommended retail price well, Here are some excellent tips:

1. Look for Wiis that end at an early hour think 3am, yes people will still be bidding but this is your best shot really. Not quite as many people will be as dedicated as you will be.

2. The closer it gets to Christmas the less likely you will get one. Act Now!

3. When bidding on items open the item page in two browser widows, this way in one window you can have the main page and keep refreshing it so to keep and eye on the price as it goes up. The second page have it open on the enter a bid page, this way you can edit your bid in accordance of the bidding price so you know your bid will be valid.

4. Look for the bigger console packages. Although you might not have enough money to afford a big package for your son, daughter or whoever you’re buying for you can sell bits of the package off to cover the price. These packages are not as popular with the majority of ebay bidders and therefore give you a better chance.

5. Try some typo eBay searches, now this is a shot in the dark really but very worth a try. Try misspellings of 'Nintendo Wii Console' it may have been listed incorrectly and therefore other bidders are not finding it. Here some examples:
