An Unforeseen Event with Life Changing Impact

According to Wikipedia, “The term black swan comes from the ancient Western conception that all swans were white. Thus, the Black Swan is an oft cited reference in philosophical discussions of the improbable.”

Black swan or improbable events happen every day. These situations are unexpected, beyond our control and can hit with life changing impact. They can be positive or negative. Our black swan came in the form of major health issues in our youngest child.

Unpredictable Events

We had no way of predicting that over the course of the next 20 years we would experience the enormous financial burden that goes hand in hand with anyone facing huge medical issues. We had no way of predicting what it would mean - to watch life as we knew it, come to a screeching halt - just to deal with our black swan event.

Initially, the medical community could offer little help for our daughter. We were fortunate to eventually connect with a wonderful medical team - but it wasn’t without a great deal of fighting and pursuing on our part. You can read more about her story here.   In the meantime, we supported her body in every way possible - and that included learning about quality nutritional support. I readily admit that, for years, nothing we tried made a difference - medically OR nutritionally. That didn’t stop us from looking.

What we did learn as a direct result of our black swan event and through our many experiences, was the extraordinary role of good nutritional support. We learned what to look for in a good nutritional product. There are so many to choose from and it’s easy to get lost in the mass market. In many ways, we are fortunate to have found ourselves on this road that we didn’t ask for. It has had huge benefit and has made marked changes in our own lives.

Positive Changes

At the very core of a healthy functioning body is the importance of good nutrition. What we thought was good nutrition was - in fact - sadly lacking. Although we ate all the right foods - buying fresh veggies and cooking from scratch - we had no control over the depleted nutrition in the very products we were eating.

Without our black swan event, we would very probably have never taken the path we are now on. We would have missed out on what has turned out to be the most life changing event of all. Good health. Quality, food-sourced supplements simply support the body over time and supply it with the ingredients lacking in our modern day diet - allowing our bodies to function optimally.

Is There a Black Swan in Your Future?

A black swan event: something that happens - improbable, unforeseen, unexpected. The saying goes, ‘hindsight is great’. It’s quite easy to look back after the event has happened to try and explain how it all came about and what actually led up to it.

Did the medical condition in our daughter actually play a part in what turned out to be the biggest change in my own life? The fact remains that - the future is still the future. We cannot predict the happenings in our lives, but we can learn to be flexible enough to work around the circumstances, look outside of the little box we live in and take hold of those things that could make a difference. Is there a black swan in your future?
