The Cat that Thinks He's a Dog

Biscuit
Two years ago, I walked into a pet store to buy dog food and walked out with a cat. He was a furry, little orange, striped creature with big, wide, yellowish-orange eyes and he latched onto my shoulder the minute I pulled him out of his cage. He spoke to me with a little mew and his whiskers brushed up against my cheek. He had me at first look.
The little boy that had come along for the ride held him for me as I planned aloud my intentions of introducing him to our cat Princess; a beautiful, long-haired Tortie and my German Shepherd Lacey. Both co-existed very well and I wasn't sure how another fur ball in the house would affect them.
As I looked at this marmalade striped kitten, I could see a spunk in his eye. He continued to "talk" in the car and didn't seem too afraid to be taken from his cage mates at the pet shop. He was so warm and fuzzy; he made me feel full of happiness. I suddenly felt my mom next to me in thought...the kitchen warm from the oven and she and I making homemade biscuits with dough, flour and a glass to make them round. I decided to call our new charge Biscuit.
Biscuit and the other two adapted quite well to each other. I always introduce new cats by their litter boxes. That way, if they get nervous, they can jump in and use them. Biscuit was trained immediately and didn't waste any time getting to know the three levels of the house.
He would have "spasm" moments where he would transcend down upon the dog in a leap, jump off her head and land on the back of the chair; leaving Lacey dazed and wondering what had just happened.
I realized that Biscuit thought he was a dog when my daughter taught him to fetch his kitty toys. She would throw a little stuffed animal and Biscuit would run and swoop down, catching his prey in his mouth and return it to my daughter. Very impressive. Biscuit would also run to the door to greet anyone that came over. He jumped all over visitors more than Lacey did, expecting to be pet and stroked. When I would call the dog to get leftovers, Biscuit would beat him to my feet, mewing and talking aloud to make sure I knew he was there!
I have never met a cat like Biscuit. Princess, the Tortie is loving but can be evasive. She does things on her own terms. Biscuit comes running upon hearing his name and will talk to you. If you look at him and say something, he will return a message in kitty talk and will continue this until you stop.
Animals bring us such great joy. I was blessed the day I found Biscuit. His story was a sad beginning. The head of the rescue agency said that Biscuit's mom had given birth to he and his siblings (4 others) in an empty pot at Meijer. The mom abandoned the babies around 2 weeks. Eyes still closed and freezing, she found the babes in the winter when she entered the store to get groceries. She bottle fed those babies and took care of them until she could find homes for them. It's a miracle that he survived this and it's an even bigger miracle that we found each other! He is the perfect cat!

I had a cat that thought he was a dog as well. He would play fetch better than any dog.
