The Chihuahua Puppy Chronicles

Well I knew I had some screws loose - but I know without a fact now : there must be many loose ones rattling around in my brain. Why you ask? Because I have consented to raising 2 chihuahua puppies.

No easy feat for a 50 year old writer that has already been their and done that - raised 3 kids, and am now preparing to enter the empty nest syndrome........

Which I think now has just been blown out the door with the addition of our 2 little newest miniature dinosaurs on the block- Kawaski and Markie- 2 apple-head chihuahua puppies......

Now the "taIL" of how I ended up with the chihuahua puppies is about as precious as the original story of where they came from ( but I'll save that for another time - after all- you see I added the word chronicle to this article: So yes there will be more to come about the adventures of these 2 chihuahua puppies...)

Anyway, suffice it to say that they are here now and I am on day 4 of basically having not much sleep, attending bathroom duties for my 2 newest little charges, and making sure no one gets crushed when they are out playing in full force on the living room floors.

And my husband, big bear that he is, has insisted that the best place for them to sleep in the middle of the night is on our bed - wrapped around his neck like little scarf warmers.

Last night I just had to put my foot down -as the lack of sleep was getting to me - so the little dinosaurs were subjected to sleeping alone last night and having to deal with it. No mother can go for days without a break !

Now if you had told me years ago that I would be mother to a chihuahua I would have told you that you were out of your mind. Not only did I not know much about the breed, but I really thought that chihuahuas were just annoying little dogs - obnoxious Napoleon like dictators that barked all day long (my experience with chihuahuas had been limited to say the least)

Of course I know one should never form opinions too hard and fast about things they don't know much about, and of course I should have known that this observation would come back to literally bite me in the you know what later on. (hindsight is always foresight, right?)

So here they are, my newest littlest charges, Markie and Kawasaki, in their first week home.

(and by the way, I love them to death already, but gosh can't a person get some sleep around here?)
