The lovely Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell

I bumped into Kristen Bell at a hotel in Italy last year during my Eurotrip. It was so random and most people didn't seem to recognize her there. I guess they don't get Veronica Mars dubbed in Italian?? In all the excitement I forgot to ask her what she was doing there. It wasn't a flash place. Maybe she had a secret Italian boyfriend!

To be honest, I didn't really watch that much of Veronica Mars, but I loved Kristen in Heroes, where she played "Elle" whose ability was electric manipulation.

In person, Kristen Bell is gorgeous and polite and had all the hallmarks of a true celebrity who appreciates her fans.

Missy Higgins & I
Missy Higgins & I

Missy Higgins

Missy Higgins is an Australian singer/songwriter whose first album "The Sound of White" went something ridiculous like 9 x platinum on the Aria Charts. I went to see her in concert at the Belvoir Amphitheatre (she was supported by Lior) when her album was around the 3-4x platinum mark. (Really. I still remember that!)

It was the biggest crowd she had played to at the time (maybe 5000 people). There was one instance where her piano needed fixing and while the guy was fixing it, she started playing the music of "Eye of the Tiger" from the Rocky films. She goes "I'll bet now all the boys who were dragged here by their girlfriends are now starting to think Yeah!" and that it was worth it coming along!

Someone threw a bra on stage and she picked it up, shrugged and gave it to the male guitarist! LOL.

With Mel Gibson
With Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson

I met Mel Gibson at the premiere of Apocalypse in Sydney a while back.He was pretty cool, but there was something about his presence that demanded a bit of authority. Maybe it was just nerves. My girlfriend swore he could hear her thoughts...

I enjoyed Mel's early performance in the World War I film "Gallipoli" before he became super-famous. I also reckon he did a superb job in the Passion of the Christ. It was really graphic and forced you to consider the suffering that Jesus went through for us.

Sad to hear Mel's going through (an expensive) divorce at the moment.

Weird Al Yankovic

Weird Al Yankovic was one of the few celebrities that actually gave a shit about coming to Western Australia - most other famous artists didn't bother until a couple of years ago when the Australian dollar was about half the American dollar's value. He was really funny on stage. In between sets he'd put up sketches on a projector of "real" interviews he did with other famous people (by clever editing).

I actually got to meet him twice! My mate and I waited after most of the people had left. The first time was in the Perth Concert Hall and I was annoyed because all I had for him to autograph was a ticket stub in my pocket. But we hung back and did get photos with him which was cool - I should have put on a funny face like he did, but didn't really think of it at the time.

The next concert I think was at Challenge Stadium on his "Straight Outta Lynwood" tour. We found out afterwards that he was going to see people backstage but we didn't have the yellow cards to get in. Apparently they were giving them away on radio previously. But we got really lucky, some guy had a heap of them and gave them out to us. When we saw him, Al was quiet (obviously exhausted) but shook our hands and signed our albums.

I told him it was an awesome performance - and it was. He really interacted with (and walked into) the crowd during his performance of "I Wanna Be Your Lover". I'm sure he embarrassed a few ladies (who loved him wiggling his butt in their face)!

"Weird Al" Yankovic & me. I look like a dufus. I should have pulled a face too!

Paris Hilton

I met Paris at a New Years Eve party in Sydney last year. Naturally, she arrived fashionably WAY TOO LATE, almost the following year in fact! She didn't talk with a lot of people at the beginning, it was more like she was lapping up the attention from everyone, not really making eye contact while dancing a bit and texting on her cell phone.

I was near her bodyguard and after a bit of small talk said "You guys should see the balcony upstairs, Paris would love it. It's a better view of the Opera House than from down here. It's a private area, but I can get you up there for a bit if you like." He didn't seem all into it but I saw him speaking with Paris a bit later on. She seemed into it when he pointed in my direction. I, of course, pretended not to notice (otherwise it's too obvious).

I took them upstairs and pointed out all the landmarks. (This all happened when my mate was taking a leak so he missed out on my superb performance and only saw the pics afterwards.) Paris was nice, but I wasn't really all that into her, I thought she was overrated. In fact I can think of 10 women hotter than Paris Hilton! Still, a bit of flirting never hurt anyone and I ended up holding her hand and sharing a kiss under the moonlight. The photo you see here is one taken by another member of the staff and showed up in the Sydney Telegraph the following morning. Can you see the graffiti on my jumper she wrote with her lipstick?

I wasn't gonna share this photo as I was a little bit smashed, look at my shirt hanging out! I guess she digs that!

Disclaimer: I have been criticized that I look the same in all the photos. But hey, it's my photo face! All stories are true except the ones about Kristen Bell, Mel Gibson, The Beckhams & Paris Hilton. All photos are legit. Ok fine, they're not, except my real "real" one with Weird Al.

David & Victoria Beckham in a Madrid pub. Posh acted like more of a celeb than Becks did, but I guess it was because he had a beer in one hand.
