The Courage, The Strength, and the Wisdom
68
Give me courage to try to right the wrongs
I can right; give me strength to accept those
Wrongs I cannot; and give me the wisdom
To know the difference. I could well suppose
This ancient saying to apply only
To outward rights and wrongs like politics,
Helping the hurt, the poor and the lonely
Or stopping wars and hunger, and yet it's
Within that all our problems seem to start.
The change we need is really change of heart.

Very cool Tom-Tom!
I concur. Here's one to memorize, I'd say.
Thank you, Wordmaster McGurk, for the wonderful compliment!
Thank you, Cin D Vine!
That's definitely what sonnets are for, Frieda! Thank you!
Let me add one from me. Give a strength to fight with corrupt authorities who go against rules and regulations.
Beautiful piece Tom and I like your picture it makes me want to give you a big squeeze.
A good one to add, Narayan, thank you.
And a squeeze is always welcome, Blonde! That's me in the warehouse trying to change the world.
Very solemn.

Well said, Tom!
Very Very Wise Tom! :)

Thank you, Tony!
Boy, Shiba, I could make money!
Yep, great poem, terrific thoughts.
Thank you, Hawkesdream.
Tom......I'm working on my heart, figured I'd start with ME!
There you go! Thanks, Jmell
Very good. As McGurk mentioned, great spin on a prayer. Never heard of that one...usually I'll meditate and repeatedly say "Wolf tit chip nipples!" Or something very similar.
In Zeta Reticulanguage it means "All is well." ;)
I love your poems, Tom.
Who is betta than you?
You are changing the world...you have an impact of love on everyone you share your poetry with. I admire your style and will look forward to more. Thanks for the time. Kind Regards. John
Thank you, Divinemercylover, very much.
HI, I really liked this piece and especially the ending. In that we so often shake our heads, and think somebody should do something about the problems many face in the world. Yet as you so accurately put it. The first change, that first step to solving such global problems, is in fact changing ourselves, and our perspective. Yet we must really want to change ourselves and how we treat others and until we can do that, and stop thinking its not our problem, its not our job thats what_______is for. We will just keep complaining and wondering why we face the same global problems time and time again.
