The Crosswords
60
I stand at the crossroads and look and ponder which way I should take.
All the while so fearful of making a big mistake.
Behind me seeing nothing but a closed book.
Ahead all is dark and unclear.
Seeing a light burning and wishing it was near.
With a weary heart I take a look.
I must move left or maybe right.
To remain here will only bring more pain.
Trying to please everyone has become such a fight.
Always searching for a way that all might gain.
But hope turns to despair as the truth sinks in.
That in this battle, not everyone can win.
My heart burns with desire to move on,
and not awake someday to find myself all alone.
You with the light, can you hear my cry?
Please shine it brighter so I might see there really is a reason why.
To find the courage to move on and be a better man, a happy man, and all that
you deserve.
This time I promise not to lose my nerve.
These are my thoughts as I stand here at the crossraods.
