The Curse of the Comfort Zone

Let me just pose a question.. Are you comfortable with where you are in life? Are you happy, or you desire to be more? Who do you blame for not being where you are? Well you are probably pointing blame in all directions but the only thing you can blame is

The Comfort Zone!

The comfort zone- everyone has it, everyone enjoys it but oh gosh sometimes it can be the deadweight in our lives!

Why do we fear to attempt? Why do we fear to become more of ourselves? Because we are ‘comfortable', we are in the ‘comfort zone'.Yet even though we are supposedly in the ‘comfort' zone, we long to do more but have not got the guts to do so.

We feel stuck. And sometimes we even start blaming circumstances, our children, our teachers, our husbands, our wives and on and on. Yet the thing to blame is the so called comfort zone.

All you need to do is to take the first step and you are off! So stop sitting there, undecided, contemplating, thinking about it, just do it.

I hope the poem below by Guillaume Appollinaire will give you some inspiration to get out of the comfort zone, to get out of wanting to do, to actually taking action. Enjoy...

Come to the edge, he said: They said: We are afraid Come to the edge, he said. They came. He pushed them.... and they flew...

I work as a counselor in the jail in Grants Pass, Oregon. I see too many people that are stuck. I apprecate this Hub that offers hope and encouragement. Feel free to see how I try to help others in new ways. Sincerely: Gary Eby, author and therapist.

Yeah this is definitely true...the only way to grow is to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Good post.
