The idea of imagery explicit and vivid in its nature seeping into the archives of our minds without us having to think about where these images end up;makes this topic more the intresting to talk about!

sexual material of all kinds is easily accessible through television, movies, music videos, and the Internet. now is this unending pornagraphic, sexualized imagery harmless, as many would have us believe?

when considering the sensual bombardment which is rampant on the internet and to an extent on daytime television we see that our minds absorb whatever our eyes involuntarily present to them . Having said this we can appreciate the importance of trying to be more vigilant in what we watch and just as importantly what the children watch.

This sensual bombardment can be subtle from simply naked flesh splayed over a bill board of a women commercially pushing a product for a company or it can outright in your face as in the pornagraphic imagery on the internet. The reason why I decided to talk about this topic is as a consequence of what can ensue from watching pornography.

Ok lets delve a little more into the definition of pornography from an actual dictionary:

-noun obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, esp. those having little or no artistic merit.

It is quite clear from the definition that exposing ones nakedness to then get involved in a degrading act which strips one from any dignity he/she may have previously had; has no artistic merit. This especially true in how womens sense of dignity and general perception is being jeopordised and reduced to merely being seen as objects of lust.

Despite what its defenders say, pornography has increasingly negative effects on people's behavior. Researchers at the National Foundation for Family Research and Education concluded that "exposure to pornography puts viewers at increased risk for developing sexually deviant tendencies.

Statistics show that the primary consumers of pornography are boys between the ages of 12 and 17. In fact, for many, pornography is their primary source of sexual education. This has devasting complication. Since this warps the understanding of children regarding sexual behaviour and completely makes their idea of intimate encounters something which is disease free( HIV&AIDS) as is depicted in pornography.

Some researchers say that exposure to pornography can also affect the natural development of a child's brain. This is significant because according to nuerological observation the "brain imprinted response to the viewing and sounds of pornography is biologically significant event that overides informed consent and that it is harmful to childrens brains because it compromises their grasp of reality and thus their mental and physical health, their well-being and their pursuit of happiness."

It is pretty much explicable now that the viewing of indecent images and other related material are harmful and dangerous to the physche of an individual. It is imporant to note that the effects after exposure are evenly harmful to the mind. For instance the feeling of mental distress felt by the individual as a result of indecnt exposure which challenges a previous set of moral beliefs and sentiments that the individual holds. This is known as cognitive dissonance in the domain of physcology.

Alongside the mental distress there is also attitudinal changes in a person in order for a self to mintain integrity from the constant sensual bombardment. Such attitudinal changes can make a person act out aggresively and remain isolated from others; these are some of the changes that are fostered within the individual from viewing indecent images.

Another huge problem in watching pornographic images is the fact that it can spiral into an addiction. the explanation in how this addiction comes about is best explained by victor Cline ..."memories of experiences that occurred at times of emotional arousal (which could include sexual arousal) get locked into the brain by an adrenal gland hormone, epinephrine, and are difficult to erase. This may partly explain pornography's addicting effect." --Victor Cline., Ph.D., "Pornography Effects," in Media, Children, and the Family,

I Have only mentioned limited problematic issues that arise from the use of pornography and there are many others that are tantamount in destruction including relationship problems, self esteem issues, other mental problems etc.

This is my first article and so please return feedback and give me pointers in improving my writing skills. Thank You.

You are off to a great start. This article is brilliant. It is well conceived and executed. This is a serious problem. I hear a lot of talk about men watching it—big problem. What I don't hear said is: why do millions of gorgeous women have sex on camera for free? What is wrong with them?

I might write a Hub from this angle.

James A Watkins- Thank you for reading and for the feedback. I wrote this in reference to the indelible impact it has on both adults and children. I guess you can write a good hub from your perspective but I suppose they do get paid for it in the same way call girls do.
