Election Day: "A New Dawn Of American Leadership Is At Hand"
56
Like The Dawn, President Elect Obama Does Inspire Me And I Didn't Even Vote For Him
I think "a new dawn of American leaership is at hand," is the quote in President Elect Obama's victory speech that will become famous, but not because of any political reason. It's because of something else. I didn't even vote for him and yet while he spoke, I saw it in the crowd and felt it in me, that unique deep feeling that often surprises us when we least expect it. In English, we call it hope.
Just thinking about the dawning of anything sort of stirs up hope, doesn't it? One commentator in Europe said he believes this election is the dawning of new relationships between America and Europe. I don't have any reason to believe he can speak for all of Europe or the world but he implied that if we had elected the Republican candidate that I voted for, there would be less of that feeling we call hope in the world right now.
To The United States Of America
This is the dawning of much more than a new president's term in the white house. I have a feeling this historic American election saw more voters at the polls than ever before and probably received more attention from the entire world than ever before.
While Barack Obama gave his victory speech, there were over 100,000 people in Chicago's Grant Park to hear it. And these people were not in the "ha, ha! we won!" spirit of celebration. The faces I saw were smiling through tears and seemed to have hope and light in their eyes behind the tears.
And my face while I listened to our new president speak was not the typical sad "we lost" kind of face. I was smiling through tears too feeling a sense of hope. He is always such an inspiring speaker.
When he said "a new dawn of American leadership is at hand," he sounded humble, not proud. He is so good at that. Like the dawn, he can deliver a speech that seems to shed light into the dark. They say the darkest hour is just before dawn. Even though we have a lot of dark times ahead, the way he delivered this speech brings hope like the morning.
Our new president will need so much support through these next days. It's staggering to think about what he now has ahead of him. I plan to pray for President Elect Obama a lot, for his protection, for wisdom, for strength and honor and for us as a nation.
The world is watching to see if we are going to stay divided, red and blue, or can we become united like our name. That's one of the challenges our new president gave us - he said to remember that "we have never been a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and always will be, the United States of America."
"Believe Always In the Promise and Greatness Of America"
"America's Strength...Comes From The Enduring Power Of Our Ideals: Liberty, Democracy and Unyielding Hope"
It Is A New Day! This Is The Day The Lord Has Made! Let Us Rejoice And Be Glad In It! Psalms 118:24
In God We Trust
As a nation, we must be careful not to place the hope of the world in the wrong person. That would be the worst thing we could do to our new president. In God we trust. That's why we became a nation in the first place.
Pray for our new leader but place your hope and trust in God if you want to be like a tree planted by the water and not like a bush in the wastelands.
To see prosperity when it comes with green leaves, be sure your confidence is in God. To have no worries in a year or so of drought, trust the right Person.
Jeremiah 17:5-8 (NIV)
5 This is what the LORD says:
"Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength
and whose heart turns away from the LORD.
6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands;
he will not see prosperity when it comes.
He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.
7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
8 He will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit."

What Are Your Thoughts As We Move Past November 4th??
THANK YOU jsnow, so much for your comment and for your prayers. You and your country will be in my prayers too. Aussie, aussie, aussie!
Terri
You share my feelings about this election. I too did not vote for Mr. Obama and it was because of some of his ideas that are to far to the left for me. But there were many times that I sat and listened to him, during his debates, and speeches, and this is a man that has mastered the English language and delivers his words with conviction. I admire that. He is a man with no axes to grind and the only way for him is up. I do believe that he has his focus on this and will deliver with a United country. I was also impressed with the world and how they received him. If for no other reason, I believe that the people have chosen the correct man to run this country. God Bless him and his family and God Bless America.
Thank you for sharing,
Hello myhomebusiness - thank you for your comment and you are so right. In America, the people choose, and we have.
I thought John McCain did a stupendous job toward helping unite the parties in his very gracious concession speech. I admired him all the more. I was torn between these two candidates agreeing and disagreeing with each. But I was also moved to tears at Obama's speech and felt hopeful. Perhaps he understands The Law of Attraction and will bring good things to our country as well as himself and his family!
Hi! Very well said, Barbara. Today I noticed in the news exactly what you just said. It seems that for now, for this time, America is attractive again, to much of the world and also to ourselves. As always, thanks so much for your comments!
Although Obama does represent many levels of change, on the level of actual governance it will more of the same old policies. I do not believe the President sets the agenda for the country. He is more of a symbol.
The real change has to take place among the average citizens and they have to wake up the desire to move a way from corporatism and excessive government regulation.

Clarence, thank you so much for your comments. I can hear you saying, "Step away from the job!" I too stepped away from corporate America and haven't looked back!
His speech brought tears to my eyes and goosebumps one for once I felt unity and not division, hope and not despair. I went into work and was hugging people as finally we are United and not Divided and through the grace of God I pray it will stay that way. I pray that history will not repeat itself and that he leads this country unlike any other leader has lead before.
Thank you, AE - I am with you in that prayer and apprciate your comments very much!
Terri,
You have really spoken for Christians to step up and do what we can to support the man in office with our prayers and keep our trust in God to work all things for good. I also "hope" that the change will be good for our country. I am hopeful for him even though my vote was not with him.
Thanks, Becky Joubert
Hi Becky, thank you so much for your comment and for quoting one of my favorite verses of scripture, the promise that all things work together for good for those who (1)love God and (2) are called according to His purposes.
Romans 8:28[ More Than Conquerors ] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
"WELL DONE" AND STATED SUCCINCTLY. MY HEART SOARED TOWARD GOD AND PLEAD FOR HIS MERCY FOR OUR NATIONAL LEADER AND OUR NATION.
ROMANS 8:28' S #1 & #2 RIGHT ON TARGET.
God bless you, The Mom for your comments!! You must be the best mom :)

I too was moved with your new presidents speech. He is an inspiring man, and even though I live in Australia, I will also be praying for your nation and your leadership. I watched the election results here live today, and I believe my interest was echoed around the world. I was also impressed with John McCain's speech. His love for his country really touched me. You had two very worthy candidates running for office. I was also impressed with your hub. May your sentiment be the sound of a new grace and hope that sweeps like a fresh breeze across your great nation.
