What Is Happening?

It's a world gone mad, common sense has fallen off the radar and has been replaced by common stupidity. The rise of the individual has given way to selfish, unintelligent, egocentric morons who lack any founding in common sense whatsoever.

What Went Wrong?

Who knows really, maybe it is the lack of community or maybe it is the dreary, mundane existences some of us lead, but one thing is for sure without a collective sense of basic direction society will feel some ill effects.

What Effects?

Courtesy is a social lubricant, it keeps smiles on faces and can often seperate the polished from the feral, as the rise of individual gratification occurs, the level of outward courteous actions diminishes - In short, if you seek to gain pleasure for yourself and only yourself then it may occur at the expense of others. This can in turn have negative effects on your satisfaction.

Huh?

We need to pay more attention to the world around us, when we treat others respectfully and we are mindful of how our actions effect others, then we can start to build a society based on civilised priciples not one echoing with the sound of "Me Me Me".

Idiots With Cellphones Who Cut Me Off In Traffic

Has this happened to you? - Of course it has, some jerk who didn't indicate or just plain drove you of the road, all because they think it is acceptable to be a moron, well it isn't. The idiots in society are aggravating the jerks with bad tempers and the roadrage epidemic is the first sign that society needs a full body cast, not just a band aid solution.

Be Mindful - My God Why Didn't I Think Of That!

The solution is simple - Be nice to others and think about your actions, easier said than done. Common courtesy combined with a reasonble degree of mental alertness (notice I only said reasonable - I don't expect a miracle) could be civilisations saving grace - If you're game enough to say we live in a civilised society.

Daydreaming Your Way To Stupidville

Don't spend your time sitting at traffic lights listen to the cars around you honk, keep your eye out for the green lights - This is more a metaphor for everything not just driving. In the fast and furious world that we inhabit it is important that we pay attention or we'll miss the point completely.
