The article title is hurting for the Filipino fans who idolized FrancisM, as what most HipHop lovers called him.

The "Mga Kababayan Ko" singer was then very optimistic he would win his bout with cancer.

His statement on his blog few days before he died:

“Good evening people. I am getting prepared for my 4th Chemotherapy cycle, and I will be admitted tonight at The Medical City. I will be doing some tests tomorrow, wish me luck," Magalona wrote in his blog on Jan. 14, 2009.

What makes him the best among the rest?

Magalona would ultimately be cited as the "King of Philippine rap".Magalona's contributions to the genre have been featured in several international hip hop publications including the All Music Guide to Hip-Hop: The Definitive Guide to Rap and Hip-Hop (2003) published by Backbeat Books; as well as the May 2004 issue of the U.S.-based publication The Source. He was also given the Pioneer Hall of Fame Award by Empire Entertainment at the 1st Annual Philippine Hip-Hop Music Awards in 2005.

Magalona was the recipient of the MTV Pilipinas Video Music Awards Generations Award in 2006 "in recognition of his career that has spanned decades and broken boundaries, and for his music which continues to inspire generations of artists and music fans both here and abroad." He was the second person so honored, the first having been singer Gary Valenciano at the 2005 rites.

Malacañang Palace has announced that Magalona will be posthumously awarded the National Medal of Merit, for his contributions in promoting patriotism through music. ( I am very dissapointed to the late response of our Government in giving a recognition to this true Patriot.)

There are many  wonderful contributions to his chosen genre that he shown to the Filipino people, which not given importance by many and for some will just be considered as a music experiment or a media propaganda.  But it is not!

Here are some of it:

We all know that FrancisM brought the hiphop genre in the Philippines and the root of hiphop and r n b in the country. But actually he did not only brought hiphop to the mainstream, but he also introduced to the people talents of Music Mixing and modern hiphop dance steps and styles to the people. In other words we may look Cool now and thats because of him.

When we talked about Hardcore Music and Modern Alternative Rap, FrancisM was the first to introduced that too.  People think it was the Greyhoundz and the Slapshock brought the genre to the mainstream.  They were wrong FrancisM did!  Well, here is the proof!  When FrancisM was experimenting new style on his music together with his band, Hardware Syndrome, he mixed up Rap and Pinoy Rock and the output is..... So f_ _ckn Awesome!  Check his Multi-awarded albums: Meron akong ano! and The Freeman.

FrancisM biggest contribution to the country should not be based  on what his songs is telling us. But should be based on the actions he did, like what he did to likes of Gloc9, Salbakuta and many more.  FrancisM taught the youth that  "We Filipinos can do better than the western hiphops".  FrancisM  taught the youth that rapping is not violence nor for hurting someone, but a way of expressing yourself in an artistic way!  You will notice that many Filipino rappers, their lyrics is all about love , patriotism, and inspirations; And that is because FrancisM influenced them a lot! Even the Hardcore bands in the country, their lyrics talks more about love and patriotism than hatred.  If there was no FrancisM the HipHop birth would be more chaotic in nature!

I am a proud Fan of the late Master Rapper, FrancisM. My loved to hiphop was influenced by him. His songs will always touch my life and I know to others too. FrancisM will always a Hero in the country's Hiphop world, the King in his created genre and the ambasador to the youth who thinks hiphops is for the blacks and whites only. May you rest in Peace Master Rapper, FrancisM!
