The Devil and God
58As Morning Approaches
Only Goodness
Let us imagine for a moment, that we knew nothing of our existence in this world, and we were born into a world where there were no unpleasant occurrences or experiences in our lives. A world where there is no unhappiness or sorrow. A world where there is no sadness and no wars. In this world everyone is kind to each other, and everyone loves and respects each other. A world where all our desires come true. A world where everything we set out to accomplish is meet with success. And most of all, A world where there is no death. Would we know that we existed in such a world? Would we be able to actually feel and recognize the joy of such a world?
In this world you and I have felt fear. We have felt pain and sickness. Most of us have felt the sadness and sorrow of having a loved one die, and that feeling of hopelessness. We know that feeling of defeat and disappointment. We are aware of the evil that is in our world. We may become angered by the cruelty of others towards each other. We may know how it feels to have hatred towards those people who do harm to others. But, is it because these heinous experiences, these events that ocurr and are a part of life, that we have learned to recognize good. That we feel the joy of life when goodness occurs. That we recognize kindness and love over hate when it is giving and taken. It is an insane reality that very few want to face or think about.
In no way do I intend to suggest that we embrace evil as a good thing in this world. I want to be born in that perfect world that I mentioned as I began this article. But could it be that we must not deney this fact of life in order to over come it in ways where we can put it to some good use.
I ask this question of you, as I have been asking myself during these times. How would we recognize that perfect world, if we had not been born of this imperfect world?
I ask you, can these unpleasant realities of this existence be over come, where we can still recognize the good?
I suppose, If you are a believer of God, than this was his plan. If you are not a believer in God, Is it a part of life that as humans, we must learn to except as a continuing reality of human existence.
